Each week, campers are enrolled in sessions covering various disciplines including Ceramics, Music, Mad Science, Cooking, Drama, Nature, Dance, Digital Photography, Jewelry Making, Computers, and more.
Additionally, all Explorer Girl groups take part in a Dance routine as an integral component of our annual Showcrest event, a significant production that combines Dance and Drama. Showcrest is a substantial production typically scheduled during the sixth week of camp and held in the evening at a local venue. It features professional sound and lighting, enhancing the overall experience for our campers and their families.
Learn to Swim
At Oak Crest, situated in 08828, New Jersey, our Learn-to-Swim Program holds a central position within the Oak Crest experience. Our aquatic facility is truly exceptional, boasting a state-of-the-art 12,000 square foot Aquatic Complex meticulously designed to cater to children aged 3 to 8 years. This complex offers varying water depths ranging from 1 to 6 feet, allowing us to commence instruction in standing-depth water and gradually progress to deeper levels as our young swimmers advance in their skills.
Each morning, our Explorer campers actively participate in a 40-minute swim lesson led by certified swim instructors, with group counselors providing additional support and supervision. In the afternoons, campers have the opportunity to return for free swim sessions. It is noteworthy that our swim lessons are structured around skill levels rather than age groups, which enables us to effectively challenge swimmers at various proficiency levels. Our instructors undergo annual training and apply a comprehensive approach that combines the best practices of the American Red Cross with over 25 years of practical experience in teaching children how to swim.
Learn to Ride a Bicycle
Mastering the skill of riding a bicycle has become a significant childhood milestone, and Oak Crest, situated in 08828, New Jersey, provides an ideal environment for this achievement through its newly established Bicycle Village. This village includes a 1/4-mile training course, a state-of-the-art pump track, and a mountain bike preparation trail. Cycling not only promotes independence in children but also imparts valuable lessons in balance, posture control, coordination, and the development of motor skills.
Our experienced instructors offer personalized attention, ensuring that novice riders can build the confidence necessary for success. Furthermore, Oak Crest is committed to providing appropriately sized bikes and helmets to support the learning process, guaranteeing the safety and comfort of our young cyclists.
