Explorers (1st & 2nd Graders) Summer Camp near 08828

At Oak Crest, located in 08828, New Jersey, our program is tailored to the developmental stages of our campers. The Explorer program, which shares similarities with the Munchkin program, is designed to promote skill development across various athletic and creative activities, enhance swimming abilities, and foster social and emotional intelligence.

For first-grade campers, this journey includes exposure to exciting features such as the Climbing Tower, Zipline, Giant Swing, and engagement in the Oak Crest tradition of GAGA. As they progress to second grade, campers enjoy the addition of a CHOICE period in their weekly schedule. This feature allows them to select activities, creating a dynamic and engaging camp experience that aligns with their evolving interests and preferences.

Explorer Athletics

In 08828, New Jersey, our first and second-grade campers participate in sports activities that have been adapted to their age and abilities. These modified versions of traditional sports take place on scaled-down fields and courts, utilizing age-appropriate equipment. This approach is designed to empower campers by enabling them to achieve success while acquiring fundamental game skills.

Our Athletic Specialists, who oversee these activities, are well-trained in dedicating a portion of each session to instructing a new skill, followed by gameplay that emphasizes the application of that skill. Furthermore, Oak Crest counselors actively engage in these activities alongside the campers, working in collaboration with the specialists to establish and reinforce opportunities for success among our young participants.

Ropes Course and Low Ropes Course

Our 1st Grade Explorers actively participate in activities on the Low Ropes Course, which involve climbing, exploration, and swinging, all conducted just inches above the ground. The Ropes Course is thoughtfully designed to allow campers to progress at their own individual pace. As campers grow more comfortable and confident, they gain access to higher and more advanced elements of the course.

Prior to the commencement of each season, our ropes courses undergo thorough safety inspections and receive certification from the company responsible for their construction. In addition to these safety measures, certified ropes instructors, who also lead the groups through all ropes courses, conduct daily safety checks to ensure a secure and enjoyable experience for our campers.
