3-5 Year Olds (Munchkins) Summer Camp near 07016
In the 07016 area of New Jersey, Oak Crest offers both a 5 full-day program and a 3 full-day program. Our Munchkin Division boasts an exceptional camper-to-staff ratio, typically ranging from 10 to 12 campers accompanied by 3 to 4 staff members. Additionally, each activity is supervised by a specialized Munchkin Specialist, rigorously recruited and trained to cater to the unique needs of 3, 4, and 5-year-olds.
The Munchkin Program adopts a comprehensive approach, focusing on three key aspects: the enhancement of gross and fine motor skills through engaging athletic and creative activities, the development of swimming proficiency, and the fostering of social skills.
Munchkin Athletics
At Oak Crest, we provide modified versions of various sports activities tailored for our youngest campers. From mini-soccer and mini-basketball to t-ball and gymnastics, we have customized traditional sports to guarantee that even our youngest campers can experience achievement. Our athletic specialists are specifically trained to work with 3, 4, and 5-year-old campers, ensuring that your child learns the fundamental skills of these sports in an age-appropriate and engaging manner.
Creative Arts
Located in the 07016 area of New Jersey, Oak Crest’s Creative Arts Center is a distinguished hub for artistic expression. Here, your child can engage in a wide range of artistic activities in well-appointed, air-conditioned classrooms under the guidance of experienced art instructors. Weekly, our campers actively participate in diverse activities such as Ceramics, Music, Cooking, Drama, Nature exploration, Dance, Digital Photography, Jewelry Making, Computers, and more.
Adding to the depth of the experience, each Munchkin group contributes to the annual Showcrest, a grand Dance and Drama Production. This is no small event; Showcrest, a longstanding tradition during the 6th week of camp, unfolds in the evening at a local venue, featuring professional-grade sound and lighting, creating a truly remarkable spectacle.
Low Ropes
Climbing and Ropes Courses are integral elements of the Summer Camp experience at Oak Crest’s 07016, NJ location. We have established a low ropes course with a dual purpose: promoting the development of gross motor skills in our Munchkins and equipping them with the necessary skills to navigate our Climbing Tower. During their time on the Low Ropes Course, our young campers engage in climbing, exploration, and swinging activities, all while staying just inches above the ground.
For maximum safety, our ropes courses undergo a thorough inspection and certification by the company responsible for their construction at the beginning of each season. Furthermore, our certified ropes instructors, who guide the groups through all ropes courses, conduct daily checks to maintain a secure environment for the campers.
Learn to Swim
Swimming is not just a fundamental life skill; it’s a vital proficiency that is best acquired at our newly established, state-of-the-art 12,000 square foot Aquatic Complex located in 07016, NJ. Our unwavering commitment to excellence is evident through our annual training of instructors, which combines American Red Cross guidelines with a wealth of practical experience spanning over 25 years in teaching children to swim. We wholeheartedly guarantee that your child will achieve proficiency in swimming at Oak Crest.
For our beginner swimmers, our advanced Aquatic Facility boasts two shallow pools, ensuring that even the youngest campers can comfortably stand. This significantly enhances their comfort level and initial progress. Every morning, our campers partake in a 40-minute swim lesson led by a certified swim instructor, with support from group counselors. In the afternoons, they return to the Aquatic Complex for 40 minutes of free swim, fostering camaraderie with both fellow campers and group counselors.
Social Development
One of the most captivating aspects of the camp experience resides in fostering children’s aptitude for navigating group dynamics. This process leads to the development of heightened confidence and independence. As children transition between different activities, they actively participate in fostering friendships, collaborative efforts, sharing, taking turns, and learning to interact respectfully with both peers and staff. Our dedicated team empowers Munchkin campers to express themselves verbally and assists them in developing direct communication skills. Oak Crest offers a nurturing environment where children acquire the emotional and social skills that are indispensable for success in life.
Munchkin Lunch
To cater to the nutritional needs of our preschool campers, Munchkins have a distinct dining arrangement separate from the rest of the camp, featuring the first lunch period of the day. The Oak Crest Staff is highly attentive to any specific dietary requirements your child may have, guaranteeing a personalized and accommodating approach to their meals.
