3-5 Year Olds (Munchkins) Summer Camp near 07033
In the 07033 area of New Jersey, Oak Crest offers both a 5 full-day program and a 3 full-day program for children. Within our Munchkin Division, we maintain an exceptional camper-to-staff ratio, typically ranging from 10 to 12 campers per group, supervised by 3 to 4 staff members. Additionally, each activity is closely overseen by a Munchkin Specialist, who undergoes specialized training to cater to the unique needs of 3, 4, and 5-year-olds.
The Munchkin Program follows a comprehensive threefold approach, focusing on the enhancement of both gross and fine motor skills through engaging athletic and creative activities, the development of swimming skills, and the promotion of social development.
Munchkin Athletics
At Oak Crest, we provide tailored versions of various sports activities to cater to the needs of our youngest campers. Whether it’s mini-soccer, mini-basketball, t-ball, or gymnastics, we’ve modified traditional sports to ensure that children aged 3, 4, and 5 can experience success and enjoyment. Our athletic specialists, who receive specialized training for working with this age group, guide your child in learning the fundamental skills of these sports in a manner that is both age-appropriate and engaging.
Creative Arts
Located in the 07033 area of New Jersey, Oak Crest’s Creative Arts Center is a distinguished hub for artistic expression. Here, your child can engage in a diverse array of artistic activities within well-appointed, air-conditioned classrooms, guided by experienced art instructors. Weekly, our campers actively participate in activities spanning Ceramics, Music, Cooking, Drama, Nature Exploration, Dance, Digital Photography, Jewelry Making, Computers, and more.
Adding to the depth of the experience, each Munchkin group contributes to the annual Showcrest, a grand Dance and Drama Production. Far from modest, Showcrest is a cherished tradition during the 6th week of camp, held in the evening at a local venue, complete with professional-grade sound and lighting, creating a truly remarkable spectacle.
Low Ropes
Climbing and Ropes Courses are integral components of the Summer Camp experience at Oak Crest’s 07033, NJ location. We’ve established a low ropes course with dual objectives: promoting the development of gross motor skills in our Munchkins and equipping them with the essential skills needed to navigate our Climbing Tower. During their time on the Low Ropes Course, our young campers engage in climbing, exploring, and swinging activities, all while remaining just inches above the ground.
Safety is our top priority, and we ensure it by subjecting our ropes courses to thorough inspection and certification by the company responsible for their construction at the beginning of each season. Additionally, our certified ropes instructors, who guide the groups through all ropes courses, conduct daily checks to maintain a secure environment for the campers.
Learn to Swim
Swimming, far beyond a life skill, represents an essential proficiency that is best acquired at our newly established, state-of-the-art 12,000 square foot Aquatic Complex in the 07033, NJ location. Our unwavering commitment to excellence is exemplified through our annual training of instructors, drawing upon both American Red Cross guidelines and a rich practical experience spanning over 25 years in teaching children to swim. We provide an unequivocal guarantee that your child will achieve mastery in swimming at Oak Crest.
For our beginner swimmers, our Aquatic Facility boasts two shallow pools, ensuring that even the youngest campers can confidently stand. This greatly enhances their comfort and initial progress. Each morning, our campers participate in a 40-minute swim lesson led by a certified swim instructor, supported by group counselors. In the afternoons, they return to the Aquatic Complex for 40 minutes of free swim, fostering camaraderie with both fellow campers and group counselors.
Social Development
One of the most captivating facets of the camp experience revolves around nurturing children’s adeptness in navigating group dynamics. In this process, they cultivate heightened self-assurance and independence. While transitioning between different activities, the group actively participates in fostering friendships, collaborative endeavors, sharing, taking turns, and acquiring the ability to interact respectfully with both peers and staff.
Our dedicated staff plays a pivotal role in empowering Munchkin campers to express their thoughts through verbal communication and guides them in effective interpersonal interactions. Oak Crest offers a nurturing environment where children acquire the emotional and social skills that are crucial for success in life.
Munchkin Lunch
To cater to the nutritional needs of our preschool campers, Munchkins have a dedicated dining arrangement separate from the rest of the camp. They enjoy the first lunch period of the day, during which the Oak Crest Staff pays close attention to any dietary requirements your child may have, ensuring a personalized and accommodating approach to their meals.
