3-5 Year Olds (Munchkins) Summer Camp near 07059
In the 07059 area of New Jersey, Oak Crest offers two programs: a 5 full-day program and a 3 full-day program. Within our Munchkin Division, we maintain an exceptional camper-to-staff ratio, typically ranging from 10 to 12 campers per 3 to 4 staff members. Additionally, each activity is supervised by a Munchkin Specialist, specially recruited and trained to cater to the specific needs of children aged 3, 4, and 5.
The Munchkin Program is centered around a threefold approach, which includes:
1. The development of gross and fine motor skills through engaging athletic and creative activities.
2. The acquisition of swimming skills.
3. The promotion of social development.
Munchkin Athletics
Oak Crest provides modified versions of various sports activities tailored to our youngest campers. These scaled-down adaptations encompass mini-soccer, mini-basketball, t-ball, and gymnastics, enabling our 3, 4, and 5-year-old campers to experience success in these sports. Our athletic specialists are specifically trained to work with this age group, ensuring that your child learns the fundamental skills of these sports in an age-appropriate and engaging manner.
Creative Arts
Located in the 07059 area of New Jersey, Oak Crest’s Creative Arts Center serves as an exceptional hub for fostering artistic expression. Here, your child can engage in a diverse array of artistic activities within well-appointed, air-conditioned classrooms, led by experienced art instructors. Our campers actively participate in various activities on a weekly basis, spanning Ceramics, Music, Cooking, Drama, Nature exploration, Dance, Digital Photography, Jewelry Making, Computers, and more.
Furthermore, the experience is enriched by the participation of each Munchkin group in the annual Showcrest event—a grand Dance and Drama Production. Far from modest, Showcrest, a longstanding tradition occurring during the 6th week of camp, unfolds in the evening at a local venue and features professional-grade sound and lighting, creating a truly remarkable spectacle.
Low Ropes
Climbing and Ropes Courses are fundamental components of the Summer Camp experience at Oak Crest’s 07059, NJ location. We have established a low ropes course with a dual purpose: to promote the development of gross motor skills in our Munchkin campers and equip them with the necessary skills to navigate our Climbing Tower. During their engagement with the Low Ropes Course, our young campers participate in climbing, exploration, and swinging activities, all while remaining just inches above the ground.
Ensuring the utmost safety, our ropes courses undergo comprehensive inspection and certification by the company responsible for their construction at the start of each season. Furthermore, our certified ropes instructors, who guide the groups through all ropes courses, conduct daily checks to maintain a secure environment for the campers.
Learn to Swim
Swimming transcends being a mere life skill; it constitutes a pivotal proficiency best acquired at our recently established, state-of-the-art 12,000 square foot Aquatic Complex situated in the 07059, NJ location. Our unwavering commitment to excellence is exemplified through our annual instructor training, which draws upon American Red Cross guidelines and a wealth of practical experience spanning over 25 years in teaching children to swim. We confidently assure you that your child will master the art of swimming at Oak Crest.
For our beginner swimmers, our cutting-edge Aquatic Facility features two shallow pools, providing a comfortable environment even for the youngest campers, enabling them to stand with ease. This significantly enhances their comfort level and initial progress in swimming. Each morning, our campers partake in a 40-minute swim lesson led by a certified swim instructor, with the assistance of group counselors. In the afternoons, they return to the Aquatic Complex for 40 minutes of free swim, fostering camaraderie with fellow campers and group counselors alike.
Social Development
One of the most captivating facets of the camp experience centers on the development of children’s proficiency in navigating group dynamics. This transformative process contributes to the enhancement of their confidence and independence. As they transition between various activities, the group actively participates in the cultivation of friendships, collaborative efforts, sharing, taking turns, and the acquisition of skills for respectful interaction with both peers and staff. Our committed staff plays a pivotal role in empowering Munchkin campers to express their thoughts verbally and guiding them in direct communication. Oak Crest offers a nurturing environment where children acquire the emotional and social skills vital for success in life.
Munchkin Lunch
In order to meet the nutritional needs of our preschool campers, the Munchkin group has a distinct dining arrangement, where they enjoy the first lunch period of the day. The Oak Crest Staff is highly attentive to any dietary requirements your child may have, ensuring a personalized and accommodating approach to their meals.
