3-5 Year Olds (Munchkins) Summer Camp near 07060
In the 07060 area of New Jersey, Oak Crest offers both a 5 full-day program and a 3 full-day program for young campers. Our Munchkin Division maintains an exceptional camper-to-staff ratio, typically ranging from 10 to 12 campers supervised by 3 to 4 staff members. Additionally, each activity is overseen by a Munchkin Specialist, who undergoes specialized recruitment and training to meet the unique needs of 3, 4, and 5-year-olds.
The Munchkin Program adopts a comprehensive approach, focusing on three key aspects: enhancing gross and fine motor skills through engaging athletic and creative activities, developing swimming proficiency, and fostering social development.
Munchkin Athletics
At Oak Crest, we provide modified versions of a variety of sports activities tailored to our youngest campers. These include mini-soccer, mini-basketball, t-ball, and gymnastics. We have adeptly adjusted traditional sports to ensure that even our youngest campers can experience success. Our athletic specialists are specifically trained to work with children aged 3, 4, and 5, guiding them in acquiring fundamental skills in these sports in an age-appropriate and engaging manner.
Creative Arts
Nestled in the 07060 area of New Jersey, Oak Crest’s Creative Arts Center serves as a distinguished hub for artistic expression. Here, your child can engage in a wide array of artistic activities conducted in well-appointed, air-conditioned classrooms under the guidance of experienced art instructors.
Our campers actively participate in diverse weekly activities that encompass Ceramics, Music, Cooking, Drama, Nature exploration, Dance, Digital Photography, Jewelry Making, Computers, and more, offering a rich and varied creative experience.
Furthermore, each Munchkin group contributes to the annual Showcrest, a grand Dance and Drama Production that transcends modesty. This cherished tradition takes place during the 6th week of camp, unfolding in the evening at a local venue complete with professional-grade sound and lighting, creating a truly remarkable spectacle.
Low Ropes
Climbing and Ropes Courses are integral elements of the Summer Camp experience at Oak Crest’s location in 07060, NJ. We have designed a low ropes course with two primary objectives: nurturing the development of gross motor skills in our Munchkin campers and equipping them with the necessary skills to tackle our Climbing Tower.
During their time on the Low Ropes Course, our young campers engage in activities involving climbing, exploration, and swinging, all while staying just inches above the ground. We prioritize safety, and as such, our ropes courses undergo thorough inspection and certification by the company responsible for their construction at the start of each season. Additionally, our certified ropes instructors, who guide the groups through all ropes courses, conduct daily checks to ensure a secure environment for our campers.
Learn to Swim
Swimming is not just a life skill but also a crucial proficiency that is best acquired at our newly established, state-of-the-art 12,000 square foot Aquatic Complex located in 07060, NJ. Our unwavering commitment to excellence is evident in our annual training of instructors, which is based on American Red Cross guidelines and backed by a wealth of practical experience spanning over 25 years in teaching children how to swim. We confidently guarantee that your child will achieve mastery in swimming at Oak Crest.
For our beginner swimmers, our cutting-edge Aquatic Facility boasts two shallow pools, ensuring that even the youngest campers can comfortably stand. This setup significantly enhances their comfort level and initial progress in learning to swim. Each morning, our campers partake in a 40-minute swim lesson conducted by a certified swim instructor, with assistance from group counselors. In the afternoons, they return to the Aquatic Complex for 40 minutes of free swim, promoting camaraderie with fellow campers and group counselors alike.
Social Development
The camp experience offers a captivating opportunity for children to develop their ability to navigate group dynamics, resulting in increased confidence and independence. As they transition between different activities, the group actively participates in cultivating friendships, collaborative efforts, sharing, taking turns, and learning to interact respectfully with both peers and staff. Our devoted staff plays a pivotal role in empowering Munchkin campers to express themselves using words and facilitating direct communication. Oak Crest creates a nurturing environment where children acquire the emotional and social skills necessary for success in life.
Munchkin Lunch
To cater to the nutritional needs of our preschool campers, the Munchkins have a dedicated dining arrangement that grants them the first lunch period of the day, separate from the rest of the camp. Our Oak Crest Staff is highly attentive to any specific dietary requirements your child may have, offering a personalized and accommodating approach to ensure their well-being.
