3-5 Year Olds (Munchkins) Summer Camp near 07066
In the 07066 area of New Jersey, Oak Crest offers both a 5 full-day program and a 3 full-day program for young children. Our Munchkin Division maintains an exceptional camper-to-staff ratio, typically ranging from 10 to 12 campers with the support of 3 to 4 staff members. Additionally, each activity is supervised by a specialized Munchkin Specialist who has undergone rigorous training to cater specifically to the needs of 3, 4, and 5-year-olds.
The Munchkin Program adopts a comprehensive approach, focusing on three key aspects:
1. Enhancing gross and fine motor skills through engaging athletic and creative activities.2. Teaching essential swimming skills to the young participants.3. Promoting social development among the children.
Munchkin Athletics
At Oak Crest, we provide modified versions of various sports activities tailored to suit the abilities of our young campers. Whether it’s mini-soccer, mini-basketball, t-ball, or gymnastics, we’ve adjusted traditional sports to ensure that our youngest participants can experience success. Our athletic specialists, who have received specialized training for working with 3, 4, and 5-year-olds, guide your child in mastering the fundamental skills of these sports in a manner that is both age-appropriate and engaging.
Creative Arts
Nestled in the 07066 area of New Jersey, Oak Crest’s Creative Arts Center serves as an exceptional hub for fostering artistic expression. Here, your child can engage in a wide array of artistic activities conducted in well-appointed, air-conditioned classrooms under the guidance of experienced art instructors. Each week, our campers actively participate in a diverse range of activities, including Ceramics, Music, Cooking, Drama, Nature exploration, Dance, Digital Photography, Jewelry Making, Computers, and more.
Adding depth to this creative experience, every Munchkin group contributes to the annual Showcrest, a grand Dance and Drama Production. Far from a modest event, Showcrest, a cherished tradition during the 6th week of camp, takes place in the evening at a local venue and features professional-grade sound and lighting, resulting in a truly remarkable spectacle.
Low Ropes
Climbing and Ropes Courses play pivotal roles in the Summer Camp experience. Located in Oak Crest’s 07066, NJ site, we have established a low ropes course with dual objectives: to promote the development of gross motor skills in our young campers and to equip them with the necessary skills for navigating our Climbing Tower. Engaging in the Low Ropes Course, our campers spend their time climbing, exploring, and swinging, all while remaining just inches above the ground.
Safety is our utmost priority, and to ensure it, our ropes courses undergo thorough inspection and certification by the company responsible for their construction at the beginning of each season. Furthermore, our certified ropes instructors, who lead the groups through all ropes courses, conduct daily checks to maintain a secure environment for the campers.
Learn to Swim
Swimming isn’t just a valuable life skill; it’s a crucial proficiency that is best acquired at our newly established, state-of-the-art 12,000 square foot Aquatic Complex in the 07066, NJ location. Our unwavering commitment to excellence is evident through our annual training of instructors, incorporating both American Red Cross guidelines and more than 25 years of practical experience in teaching children to swim. We confidently assure you that your child will attain mastery in swimming at Oak Crest.
For our novice swimmers, our cutting-edge Aquatic Facility boasts two shallow pools, designed to ensure even the youngest campers can comfortably stand, enhancing their comfort level and initial progress. Each morning, campers participate in a 40-minute swim lesson led by a certified swim instructor, with the support of group counselors. In the afternoons, they return to the Aquatic Complex for 40 minutes of free swim, fostering camaraderie with both fellow campers and group counselors.
Social Development
One of the most captivating aspects of the camp experience is the fostering of children’s proficiency in navigating group dynamics. This process leads to the development of increased confidence and independence. While transitioning between different activities, campers actively participate in building friendships, engaging in collaborative efforts, sharing, taking turns, and learning to interact respectfully with both peers and staff.
Our dedicated staff plays a pivotal role in empowering Munchkin campers to express themselves using words and guiding them in direct communication. Oak Crest offers a nurturing environment where children acquire the emotional and social skills that are fundamental for success in life.
Munchkin Lunch
To cater to the nutritional needs of our preschool campers, the Munchkins have a dedicated dining arrangement separate from the rest of the camp. They enjoy the first lunch period of the day, ensuring their dietary requirements are met promptly. Our Oak Crest Staff is attentive to any specific dietary needs your child may have, ensuring a personalized and accommodating approach to their meals.
