3-5 Year Olds (Munchkins) Summer Camp near Somerset
In 07067, NJ, Oak Crest offers both a 5 full-day program and a 3 full-day program within our Munchkin Division. Our camp maintains an exceptional camper-to-staff ratio, typically ranging from 10 to 12 campers per 3 to 4 staff members. Additionally, each activity is supervised by a specialized Munchkin Specialist, specifically trained to address the needs of 3, 4, and 5-year-olds.
The Munchkin Program focuses on a threefold approach, which includes enhancing gross and fine motor skills through engaging athletic and creative activities, developing swimming skills, and fostering social growth.
Munchkin Athletics
Oak Crest provides modified versions of various sports activities tailored to our youngest campers. From mini-soccer and mini-basketball to t-ball and gymnastics, we have carefully adapted these traditional sports to ensure that even 3, 4, and 5-year-old campers can experience success. Our athletic specialists, who possess specialized training for working with this age group, will guide your child in learning the fundamental skills of these sports in an engaging and age-appropriate manner.
Creative Arts
Located in 07067, NJ, Oak Crest boasts an exceptional Creative Arts Center that serves as a premier hub for fostering artistic expression. Your child will have the opportunity to engage in a wide array of artistic activities in well-appointed, air-conditioned classrooms under the guidance of experienced art instructors. Our campers actively participate in various activities on a weekly basis, including Ceramics, Music, Cooking, Drama, Nature exploration, Dance, Digital Photography, Jewelry Making, Computers, and more.
Enhancing the overall experience, each Munchkin group contributes to the annual Showcrest, a grand Dance and Drama Production. This is far from a modest event; Showcrest, a longstanding tradition occurring during the 6th week of camp, unfolds in the evening at a local venue, complete with professional-grade sound and lighting, creating a truly remarkable spectacle.
Low Ropes
The Summer Camp adventure at Oak Crest’s 07067, NJ location features Climbing and Ropes Courses as integral components. Our camp offers a low ropes course designed with dual objectives: promoting the development of gross motor skills among our Munchkins and equipping them with the essential skills necessary for navigating our Climbing Tower. During their time on the Low Ropes Course, our young campers engage in activities such as climbing, exploring, and swinging, all while remaining just inches above the ground.
To ensure the utmost safety, our ropes courses undergo comprehensive inspection and certification by the construction company responsible for them at the beginning of each season. Moreover, our certified ropes instructors, who guide the groups through all ropes courses, conduct daily checks to maintain a secure environment for the campers.
Learn to Swim
Swimming is not just a life skill but an essential proficiency that is best acquired at our newly established, state-of-the-art 12,000 square foot Aquatic Complex located in 07067, NJ. Our unwavering commitment to excellence is exemplified by our annual instructor training, which draws from both American Red Cross guidelines and a wealth of practical experience spanning over 25 years in teaching children to swim. We unequivocally assure you that your child will achieve mastery in swimming at Oak Crest.
For our novice swimmers, our cutting-edge Aquatic Facility features two shallow pools, ensuring that even the youngest campers can comfortably stand, significantly enhancing their comfort and initial progress. Each morning, our campers participate in a 40-minute swim lesson led by a certified swim instructor, with support from group counselors. In the afternoons, they return to the Aquatic Complex for 40 minutes of free swim, promoting camaraderie with both fellow campers and group counselors.
Social Development
The camp experience offers a captivating opportunity for children to cultivate their ability to navigate group dynamics, resulting in the development of increased confidence and independence. While transitioning between different activities, campers actively engage in building friendships, collaborative efforts, sharing, taking turns, and learning to interact respectfully with both peers and staff. Our committed staff members empower Munchkin campers to express their thoughts verbally and provide guidance in effective communication. Oak Crest fosters a nurturing environment where children acquire the emotional and social skills that are crucial for success in life.
Munchkin Lunch
In catering to the nutritional needs of our preschool campers, the Munchkins have a dedicated dining arrangement separate from the rest of the camp, with the privilege of enjoying the first lunch period of the day. Our Oak Crest Staff is diligent in attending to any dietary requirements your child may have, ensuring a personalized and accommodating approach to their meals.
