In 07095, New Jersey, Oak Crest offers both a 5 full-day program and a 3 full-day program for children. Our Munchkin Division maintains an exceptional camper-to-staff ratio, typically ranging from 10 to 12 campers per group, with 3 to 4 staff members dedicated to each. Additionally, each activity is supervised by a Munchkin Specialist, who is specially recruited and trained to meet the unique needs of 3, 4, and 5-year-olds.
The Munchkin Program focuses on a threefold approach:
1. Enhancing gross and fine motor skills through engaging athletic and creative activities.
2. Teaching and improving swimming skills.
3. Promoting social development among the young campers.
Munchkin Athletics
Oak Crest provides modified versions of various sports activities tailored to our youngest campers. These scaled-down adaptations include mini-soccer, mini-basketball, t-ball, and gymnastics. Our athletic specialists are specifically trained to work with 3, 4, and 5-year-old campers, ensuring that your child can develop fundamental sports skills in an age-appropriate and engaging manner.
Creative Arts
Nestled in 07095, New Jersey, Oak Crest’s Creative Arts Center is a distinguished hub for artistic expression. Here, your child can engage in a diverse array of artistic activities within well-appointed, air-conditioned classrooms led by experienced art instructors. Each week, our campers actively participate in activities such as Ceramics, Music, Cooking, Drama, Nature exploration, Dance, Digital Photography, Jewelry Making, Computers, and more.
Adding to the richness of the experience, each Munchkin group contributes to the annual Showcrest, a grand Dance and Drama Production. This event, far from modest, takes place during the 6th week of camp in the evening at a local venue. It features professional-grade sound and lighting, creating a truly remarkable spectacle for all to enjoy.
Low Ropes
Climbing and Ropes Courses play vital roles in the Summer Camp experience at Oak Crest’s 07095, NJ location. We have established a low ropes course with two primary objectives: promoting the development of gross motor skills among our Munchkins and providing them with the essential skills needed for our Climbing Tower. During their participation in the Low Ropes Course, our young campers engage in activities like climbing, exploration, and swinging, all while being just inches above the ground.
To ensure the utmost safety, our ropes courses undergo thorough inspection and certification by the construction company responsible for them at the start of each season. Furthermore, our certified ropes instructors, who lead the groups through all ropes courses, conduct daily checks to maintain a secure environment for the campers.
Learn to Swim
Swimming is not merely a life skill; it’s a crucial proficiency that is best acquired in our newly established, cutting-edge 12,000 square foot Aquatic Complex at Oak Crest’s 07095, NJ location. Our unwavering commitment to excellence is evident in our annual instructor training program, which draws upon American Red Cross guidelines and more than 25 years of practical experience in teaching children to swim. We confidently guarantee that your child will achieve swimming mastery at Oak Crest.
For beginners, our state-of-the-art Aquatic Facility includes two shallow pools, ensuring that even the youngest campers can comfortably stand. This significantly enhances their comfort and initial progress. Each morning, certified swim instructors, assisted by group counselors, lead our campers in 40-minute swim lessons. In the afternoons, they return to the Aquatic Complex for 40 minutes of free swim, fostering camaraderie with fellow campers and group counselors.
Social Development
One of the most captivating elements of the camp experience is the nurturing of children’s capacity to navigate group dynamics. Through this journey, they gain increased confidence and independence. As they participate in various activities, the group actively fosters friendships, collaborative efforts, sharing, taking turns, and learning to interact respectfully with both peers and staff.
Our dedicated staff empowers Munchkin campers to express their thoughts using words and encourages direct communication. Oak Crest offers a supportive environment where children develop the emotional and social skills that are vital for success in life.
Munchkin Lunch
To meet the nutritional needs of our preschool campers, the Munchkins have a distinct dining arrangement separate from the rest of the camp, with their lunch served during the first lunch period of the day. The Oak Crest Staff is vigilant in addressing any dietary requirements your child may have, providing a personalized and accommodating approach to ensure their well-being.
