In the 07938 area of New Jersey, Oak Crest offers both a 5 full-day program and a 3 full-day program for young children. Our Munchkin Division maintains an exceptional camper-to-staff ratio, typically with 10 to 12 campers per group accompanied by 3 to 4 staff members. Additionally, each activity is supervised by a Munchkin Specialist, specifically selected and trained to address the unique needs of children aged 3, 4, and 5 years old.
The Munchkin Program focuses on a three-pronged approach, emphasizing the development of gross and fine motor skills through engaging athletic and creative activities, the acquisition of swimming skills, and the promotion of social development.
Munchkin Athletics
At Oak Crest, we provide modified versions of various sports activities tailored for our youngest campers. Our offerings include mini-soccer, mini-basketball, t-ball, and gymnastics, all designed to enable children aged 3, 4, and 5 to experience success in sports. Our athletic specialists are extensively trained to work with this age group, ensuring that your child learns the fundamental skills of these sports in an age-appropriate and engaging manner.
Creative Arts
Located in 07938, New Jersey, Oak Crest’s Creative Arts Center serves as a distinguished hub for nurturing artistic expression. Here, your child will have the opportunity to engage in a wide array of artistic activities within well-appointed, air-conditioned classrooms under the guidance of experienced art instructors.
Our campers actively participate in weekly activities that encompass Ceramics, Music, Cooking, Drama, Nature exploration, Dance, Digital Photography, Jewelry Making, Computers, and more, fostering their creative talents.
What sets our program apart is the annual Showcrest production, where each Munchkin group contributes to a grand Dance and Drama Production. This tradition, occurring during the 6th week of camp, unfolds in the evening at a local venue, featuring professional-grade sound and lighting, creating an extraordinary spectacle that adds depth to the overall camp experience.
Low Ropes
Climbing and Ropes Courses are integral aspects of the Summer Camp experience at Oak Crest’s 07938, NJ location. We have established a low ropes course with a dual purpose: to promote the development of gross motor skills in our Munchkins and to equip them with the necessary skills for navigating our Climbing Tower.
During their participation in the Low Ropes Course, our young campers engage in activities such as climbing, exploration, and swinging, all while remaining just inches above the ground.
Safety is our utmost priority, and our ropes courses undergo comprehensive inspection and certification by the company responsible for their construction at the beginning of each season. Furthermore, our certified ropes instructors, who lead the groups through all ropes courses, conduct daily checks to ensure a secure environment for the campers.
Learn to Swim
Swimming is not just a life skill; it’s a vital proficiency that is best acquired at our newly established, state-of-the-art 12,000 square foot Aquatic Complex in the 07938, NJ location. Our unwavering commitment to excellence is demonstrated through our annual instructor training, which incorporates American Red Cross guidelines and leverages our extensive practical experience spanning over 25 years in teaching children to swim. We wholeheartedly guarantee that your child will achieve mastery in swimming at Oak Crest.
For our novice swimmers, our Aquatic Facility is equipped with two shallow pools, ensuring even the youngest campers can comfortably stand. This arrangement significantly enhances their comfort and initial progress. Each morning, our campers participate in a 40-minute swim lesson led by a certified swim instructor, supported by group counselors. In the afternoons, they return to the Aquatic Complex for 40 minutes of free swim, fostering camaraderie with both fellow campers and group counselors.
Social Development
The camp experience holds its most captivating facet in the development of children’s adeptness in navigating group dynamics. This journey cultivates heightened confidence and independence among the participants. As they transition between diverse activities, the group actively contributes to the cultivation of friendships, collaborative endeavors, sharing, taking turns, and the acquisition of respectful interaction skills with both peers and staff.
Our devoted staff plays a pivotal role in empowering Munchkin campers to articulate their thoughts through verbal expression and guides them in fostering direct communication. Munchkin Lunch
In catering to the nutritional needs of our preschool campers, the Munchkins benefit from a dedicated dining arrangement that grants them the first lunch period of the day, distinct from the rest of the camp. Our Oak Crest Staff is highly attentive to any specific dietary requirements your child may have, guaranteeing a personalized and accommodating approach to their nutritional needs.
