In the 07939 area of New Jersey, Oak Crest offers both a 5 full-day and a 3 full-day program for children. In our Munchkin Division, we maintain an impressive camper-to-staff ratio, typically ranging from 10 to 12 campers accompanied by 3 to 4 staff members. Additionally, each activity is supervised by a Munchkin Specialist, specially selected and trained to meet the needs of 3, 4, and 5-year-olds.
The Munchkin Program places a strong emphasis on three key aspects: enhancing gross and fine motor skills through engaging athletic and creative activities, teaching swimming skills, and fostering social development.
Munchkin Athletics
At Oak Crest, we provide modified versions of various sports activities tailored to our young campers. These adaptations include mini-soccer, mini-basketball, t-ball, and gymnastics, all designed to enable our youngest participants to experience success. Our athletic specialists, who possess specialized training in working with 3, 4, and 5-year-olds, oversee these activities. Your child will have the opportunity to learn the fundamental skills of these sports in a manner that is both age-appropriate and engaging under their guidance.
Creative Arts
Located in 07939, NJ, Oak Crest’s Creative Arts Center is a distinguished hub for artistic expression. Here, your child can engage in a wide range of artistic activities within well-appointed, air-conditioned classrooms led by experienced art instructors. Our campers actively participate in weekly activities such as ceramics, music, cooking, drama, nature exploration, dance, digital photography, jewelry making, computers, and more.
What adds to the richness of this experience is each Munchkin group’s contribution to the annual Showcrest, a grand dance and drama production. This is far from a modest event; Showcrest, a tradition during the 6th week of camp, unfolds in the evening at a local venue, complete with professional-grade sound and lighting, creating a truly remarkable spectacle.
Low Ropes
Climbing and Ropes Courses are integral elements of the Summer Camp experience at Oak Crest’s 07939, NJ location. We have established a low ropes course with dual objectives: developing gross motor skills in our Munchkin campers and equipping them with the necessary skills for our Climbing Tower. Engaging in the Low Ropes Course, our young participants spend their time climbing, exploring, and swinging, all while being just inches above the ground.
To ensure the highest level of safety, our ropes courses undergo comprehensive inspection and certification by the company responsible for their construction at the beginning of each season. Furthermore, our certified ropes instructors, who guide the groups through all ropes courses, conduct daily checks to maintain a secure environment for the campers.
Learn to Swim
Swimming is not only a vital life skill but also an essential proficiency that is best acquired at our newly established, cutting-edge 12,000 square foot Aquatic Complex located in 07939, NJ. Our dedication to excellence is evident in our annual instructor training, which draws upon both American Red Cross guidelines and over 25 years of practical experience in teaching children to swim. We confidently assure you that your child will achieve swimming mastery at Oak Crest.
For our beginner swimmers, our state-of-the-art Aquatic Facility includes two shallow pools, ensuring that even the youngest campers can comfortably stand. This enhances their comfort and initial progress significantly. Every morning, our campers participate in a 40-minute swim lesson led by a certified swim instructor, with the assistance of group counselors. In the afternoons, they return to the Aquatic Complex for 40 minutes of free swim, fostering camaraderie with fellow campers and group counselors.
Social Development
The camp experience offers a captivating opportunity for children to develop their ability to navigate group dynamics, fostering increased confidence and independence. As they transition between various activities, campers actively participate in building friendships, collaborative efforts, sharing, taking turns, and learning respectful interaction with peers and staff. Our committed staff empowers Munchkin campers to express themselves verbally and facilitates direct communication. Munchkin Lunch
In order to meet the nutritional needs of our preschool campers, the Munchkin group has a dedicated dining arrangement separate from the rest of the camp. They enjoy the first lunch period of the day. Our Oak Crest Staff is highly attentive to any dietary requirements your child may have, ensuring a personalized and accommodating approach to their meals.
