In the 07978 area of New Jersey, Oak Crest offers two program options: a 5 full-day program and a 3 full-day program. Our Munchkin Division maintains an impressive camper-to-staff ratio, typically ranging from 10 to 12 campers accompanied by 3 to 4 staff members. Additionally, we have dedicated Munchkin Specialists who are specifically recruited and trained to meet the unique needs of 3, 4, and 5-year-olds.
The Munchkin Program follows a comprehensive approach with three main objectives:
1. Enhancing gross and fine motor skills through engaging athletic and creative activities.
2. Developing swimming skills.
3. Fostering social development.
Munchkin Athletics
At Oak Crest, we provide modified versions of various sports activities tailored to the unique needs of our youngest campers. Our offerings range from mini-soccer and mini-basketball to t-ball and gymnastics. We’ve customized these traditional sports to ensure that even 3, 4, and 5-year-old campers can experience success.
Our athletic specialists, who undergo specific training for working with this age group, guide your child in learning the fundamental skills of these sports in an age-appropriate and engaging manner. Your child will delight in their athletic journey with us.
Creative Arts
Located in 07978, New Jersey, Oak Crest boasts an exceptional Creative Arts Center, serving as a hub for artistic expression. Your child will have the opportunity to engage in a wide array of artistic activities within well-appointed, air-conditioned classrooms, guided by seasoned art instructors.
Each week, our campers actively participate in a diverse range of activities, including Ceramics, Music, Cooking, Drama, Nature exploration, Dance, Digital Photography, Jewelry Making, Computers, and more.
What adds to the richness of the experience is the annual Showcrest event, where each Munchkin group contributes to a grand Dance and Drama Production. Far from a modest affair, Showcrest, held during the 6th week of camp, unfolds in the evening at a local venue. It features professional-grade sound and lighting, creating a truly remarkable spectacle for all to enjoy.
Low Ropes
Climbing and Ropes Courses are integral components of the Summer Camp experience at Oak Crest’s 07978, NJ location. We have established a low ropes course with dual objectives: promoting the development of gross motor skills in our young campers and equipping them with essential skills for navigating our Climbing Tower. During their time on the Low Ropes Course, our campers engage in climbing, exploring, and swinging activities, all while being just inches above the ground.
To ensure the utmost safety, our ropes courses undergo thorough inspection and certification by the company responsible for their construction at the beginning of each season. In addition, our certified ropes instructors, who lead the groups through all ropes courses, conduct daily checks to maintain a secure environment for the campers. Your child’s safety and well-being are our top priorities.
Learn to Swim
Swimming is not just a life skill; it’s a crucial proficiency that is best acquired at our newly established, state-of-the-art 12,000 square foot Aquatic Complex located in 07978, NJ. Our commitment to excellence is exemplified through our annual instructor training program, which adheres to American Red Cross guidelines and draws upon our extensive practical experience spanning over 25 years in teaching children to swim. We wholeheartedly guarantee that your child will become proficient in swimming at Oak Crest.
For our beginners, our Aquatic Facility features two shallow pools, ensuring that even the youngest campers can comfortably stand, greatly enhancing their comfort level and initial progress. Each morning, our campers partake in a 40-minute swim lesson led by a certified swim instructor, with the assistance of group counselors. In the afternoons, they return to the Aquatic Complex for 40 minutes of free swim, fostering camaraderie with fellow campers and group counselors alike. Your child’s swimming journey at Oak Crest is designed to be both safe and enjoyable.
Social Development
One of the most captivating facets of the camp experience revolves around nurturing children’s proficiency in navigating group dynamics. This cultivation process facilitates the development of heightened confidence and independence in campers. As they transition between various activities, the group actively participates in promoting friendships, collaborative efforts, sharing, taking turns, and acquiring the ability to interact respectfully with both their peers and the staff.

Munchkin Lunch
In order to cater to the specific nutritional needs of our preschool campers, the Munchkins have a dedicated dining arrangement that precedes the rest of the camp’s lunch periods. Our Oak Crest Staff is highly attentive to any dietary requirements your child may have, guaranteeing a personalized and accommodating approach to their meals. Your child’s dietary well-being is of utmost importance to us.
