In the 07979 area of New Jersey, Oak Crest offers both a 5 full-day program and a 3 full-day program for young children. Within our Munchkin Division, we maintain an exceptionally low camper-to-staff ratio, typically ranging from 10 to 12 campers accompanied by 3 to 4 staff members. Additionally, each activity is supervised by a specially recruited and trained Munchkin Specialist, dedicated to meeting the unique needs of 3, 4, and 5-year-olds.
The Munchkin Program adopts a comprehensive approach, focusing on three key aspects: the development of gross and fine motor skills through engaging athletic and creative activities, the acquisition of swimming proficiency, and the nurturing of social development.
Munchkin Athletics
At Oak Crest, we provide modified versions of a variety of sports activities tailored to our youngest campers. These adaptations include mini-soccer, mini-basketball, t-ball, and gymnastics, all designed to ensure that children aged 3, 4, and 5 can experience success in sports. Our athletic specialists, who possess specific training in working with this age group, guide your child in mastering the fundamental skills of these sports in an age-appropriate and engaging manner.
Creative Arts
Nestled in the 07979 area of New Jersey, Oak Crest’s Creative Arts Center serves as a distinguished hub for artistic expression. Here, your child will have the opportunity to engage in a wide array of artistic activities within well-appointed, air-conditioned classrooms led by experienced art instructors. Weekly, our campers actively participate in diverse activities such as Ceramics, Music, Cooking, Drama, Nature exploration, Dance, Digital Photography, Jewelry Making, Computers, and more.
Furthermore, each Munchkin group contributes to the annual Showcrest, a grand Dance and Drama Production that adds richness to the camp experience. Showcrest, a cherished tradition held during the 6th week of camp, unfolds in the evening at a local venue, complete with professional-grade sound and lighting to create a truly remarkable spectacle.
Low Ropes
Climbing and Ropes Courses are integral facets of the Summer Camp experience. Oak Crest’s 07979, NJ location features a low ropes course designed with two primary objectives in mind. Firstly, it aims to enhance the gross motor skills of our young campers, and secondly, it equips them with the fundamental skills necessary for navigating our Climbing Tower. During their engagement with the Low Ropes Course, our children have the opportunity to climb, explore, and swing, all while being just inches above the ground.
In our commitment to ensuring utmost safety, our ropes courses undergo rigorous inspection and certification by the company responsible for their construction at the beginning of each season. Furthermore, our certified ropes instructors, who guide the groups through all ropes courses, conduct daily checks to maintain a secure environment for our campers.
Learn to Swim
Swimming, far from just a life skill, is regarded as an essential proficiency best cultivated in our recently constructed, state-of-the-art 12,000 square foot Aquatic Complex at the 07979, NJ location. Our unwavering commitment to excellence is underscored by our annual training of instructors, which draws upon both American Red Cross guidelines and a wealth of practical experience spanning over 25 years in teaching children to swim. We confidently assure you that your child will attain mastery in swimming at Oak Crest.
For beginners, our cutting-edge Aquatic Facility boasts two shallow pools, ensuring that even the youngest campers can comfortably stand, thereby enhancing their comfort and initial progress. Each morning, our campers partake in a 40-minute swim lesson, led by a certified swim instructor with assistance from group counselors. In the afternoons, they return to the Aquatic Complex for 40 minutes of free swim, fostering camaraderie among fellow campers and group counselors alike.
Social Development
A fundamental and captivating dimension of the camp experience revolves around the development of children’s proficiency in navigating group dynamics. This transformative process fosters increased self-assurance and independence. While transitioning between diverse activities, campers actively participate in cultivating friendships, collaborating, sharing, taking turns, and acquiring the ability to interact respectfully with both their peers and staff members.

Munchkin Lunch
To cater to the specific nutritional needs of our preschool campers, Munchkins have a distinct dining arrangement separate from the rest of the camp, with their lunch served during the initial lunch period of the day. The Oak Crest Staff is highly attentive to any dietary requirements your child may have, guaranteeing a personalized and accommodating approach to their meals.
