Our Munchkin Division maintains an exceptional camper-to-staff ratio, typically ranging from 10 to 12 campers, accompanied by 3 to 4 staff members. Additionally, each activity is supervised by a dedicated Munchkin Specialist who is specifically recruited and trained to meet the unique needs of 3, 4, and 5-year-olds.
The Munchkin Program follows a comprehensive threefold approach:

Munchkin Athletics

Adding to the depth of this artistic experience, each Munchkin group contributes to the annual Showcrest, a grand Dance and Drama Production. Far from a modest affair, Showcrest, held during the 6th week of camp, takes place in the evening at a local venue, complete with professional-grade sound and lighting, creating a truly remarkable spectacle that your child will cherish.
Low Ropes
Climbing and Ropes Courses play a vital role in the Summer Camp experience at Oak Crest’s 08502, NJ location. Our camp features a low ropes course designed with dual objectives: promoting the development of gross motor skills in our young campers and equipping them with the necessary skills for our Climbing Tower. During their time on the Low Ropes Course, our Munchkins engage in climbing, exploration, and swinging activities, all while being just inches above the ground.
Safety is our top priority, and to ensure the utmost safety, our ropes courses undergo rigorous inspection and certification by the company responsible for their construction at the beginning of each season. In addition, our certified ropes instructors, who guide the groups through all ropes courses, conduct daily checks to maintain a secure environment for the campers. Learn to Swim
Swimming is more than just a life skill; it’s a crucial proficiency that is best acquired at our newly established, cutting-edge 12,000 square foot Aquatic Complex located in 08502, NJ. Our commitment to excellence is exemplified by our annual instructor training program, which draws from American Red Cross guidelines and over 25 years of practical experience in teaching children to swim. We unequivocally guarantee that your child will become proficient in swimming at Oak Crest.
For our beginner swimmers, our state-of-the-art Aquatic Facility boasts two shallow pools, ensuring that even the youngest campers can comfortably stand. This feature significantly enhances their comfort level and initial progress. Each morning, our campers participate in a 40-minute swim lesson led by a certified swim instructor, with assistance from group counselors. In the afternoons, they return to the Aquatic Complex for 40 minutes of free swim, promoting camaraderie among fellow campers and group counselors alike.
Social Development
One of the most captivating elements of the camp experience is the nurturing of children’s proficiency in managing group dynamics. This process leads to the development of heightened confidence and independence. As children transition between different activities, the group actively participates in fostering friendships, collaborative efforts, sharing, taking turns, and learning to interact respectfully with both peers and staff.

Munchkin Lunch
To cater to the nutritional needs of our preschool campers, the Munchkins have a designated dining arrangement separate from the rest of the camp, where they enjoy the first lunch period of the day. Our Oak Crest Staff is highly attentive to any dietary requirements your child may have, ensuring a personalized and accommodating approach to their meal preferences and restrictions.
