In 08504, NJ, Oak Crest offers both a 5 full-day and a 3 full-day program. In our Munchkin Division, we maintain a highly favorable camper-to-staff ratio, typically ranging from 10 to 12 campers supported by 3 to 4 staff members. Additionally, each activity is supervised by a specialized Munchkin Specialist, extensively trained to address the specific needs of children aged 3, 4, and 5.
The Munchkin Program emphasizes a three-pronged approach, focusing on:
1. Enhancing gross and fine motor skills through engaging athletic and creative activities.
2. Teaching swimming skills.
3. Promoting social development.
Munchkin Athletics
Oak Crest provides modified versions of various sports activities tailored to our young campers. These adaptations include mini-soccer, mini-basketball, t-ball, and gymnastics, designed to enable our youngest participants to experience success. Our athletic specialists are specifically trained to work with children aged 3, 4, and 5, ensuring that your child learns the fundamental skills of these sports in an age-appropriate and engaging manner.
Creative Arts
Located in 08504, NJ, Oak Crest’s Creative Arts Center serves as a distinguished hub for artistic expression. Here, your child can engage in a wide array of creative activities within well-equipped, air-conditioned classrooms, guided by experienced art instructors. Our campers actively participate in weekly activities that encompass Ceramics, Music, Cooking, Drama, Nature exploration, Dance, Digital Photography, Jewelry Making, Computers, and more.
In addition to these creative opportunities, each Munchkin group contributes to the annual Showcrest, a grand Dance and Drama Production that goes beyond modest expectations. This tradition, taking place during the 6th week of camp, unfolds in the evening at a local venue, featuring professional-grade sound and lighting to create a truly remarkable spectacle.
Low Ropes
Climbing and Ropes Courses are essential components of the Summer Camp experience at Oak Crest’s 08504, NJ location. We have designed a low ropes course with dual objectives: to promote the development of gross motor skills in our young campers and to equip them with the necessary skills for navigating our Climbing Tower. During their participation in the Low Ropes Course, our campers engage in activities such as climbing, exploration, and swinging, all while being just inches above the ground.
To ensure the utmost safety, our ropes courses undergo a comprehensive inspection and certification process by the construction company responsible for them at the beginning of each season. Furthermore, our certified ropes instructors, who lead the groups through all ropes courses, conduct daily checks to maintain a secure environment for the campers.
Learn to Swim
Swimming is not just a fundamental life skill; it represents a crucial proficiency that is best acquired at our newly established, cutting-edge 12,000 square foot Aquatic Complex in the 08504, NJ location. Our unwavering commitment to excellence is evident in our annual training of instructors, which draws upon American Red Cross guidelines and over 25 years of practical experience in teaching children to swim. We assure you that your child will achieve mastery in swimming at Oak Crest.
For our beginner swimmers, our state-of-the-art Aquatic Facility features two shallow pools, ensuring that even the youngest campers can comfortably stand. This significantly enhances their comfort and initial progress. Each morning, our campers participate in a 40-minute swim lesson conducted by a certified swim instructor, with the assistance of group counselors. In the afternoons, they return to the Aquatic Complex for 40 minutes of free swim, fostering camaraderie with both fellow campers and group counselors.
Social Development
A significant and captivating element of the camp experience revolves around nurturing children’s aptitude for managing group dynamics. This process plays a pivotal role in fostering their self-assurance and independence. As they transition between diverse activities, the group actively participates in promoting friendships, cooperative endeavors, sharing, taking turns, and acquiring the ability to interact respectfully with both peers and staff members.
Our devoted staff members empower Munchkin campers to express their thoughts through verbal communication and provide guidance in direct interpersonal interactions. Munchkin Lunch
To cater to the specific nutritional needs of our preschool campers, Munchkins are provided with a separate dining arrangement, enjoying the first lunch period of the day. The Oak Crest Staff is highly attentive to any dietary requirements your child may have, ensuring a personalized and accommodating approach to their meals.
