In the 08541 area of New Jersey, Oak Crest offers both a 5 full-day program and a 3 full-day program. In our Munchkin Division, we maintain an exceptionally favorable camper-to-staff ratio, typically ranging from 10 to 12 campers per 3 to 4 staff members. Additionally, each activity is supervised by a Munchkin Specialist, specifically selected and trained to meet the needs of children aged 3, 4, and 5 years old.
The Munchkin Program focuses on a threefold approach: enhancing gross and fine motor skills through engaging athletic and creative activities, teaching swimming skills, and fostering social development.
Munchkin Athletics
Oak Crest provides modified versions of various sports activities tailored to suit the abilities of our youngest campers. From mini-soccer and mini-basketball to t-ball and gymnastics, we have adjusted traditional sports to ensure that our 3, 4, and 5-year-old campers can experience success. Our athletic specialists, who are specially trained to work with this age group, will guide your child in learning the fundamental skills of these sports in a manner that is both age-appropriate and engaging.
Creative Arts
Located in the 08541 area of New Jersey, Oak Crest’s Creative Arts Center is a distinguished hub for artistic expression. Here, your child will have the opportunity to engage in a wide range of artistic activities within well-equipped, air-conditioned classrooms under the guidance of experienced art instructors. Our campers actively participate in various activities each week, including Ceramics, Music, Cooking, Drama, Nature exploration, Dance, Digital Photography, Jewelry Making, Computers, and more.
Furthermore, each Munchkin group contributes to the annual Showcrest, a grand Dance and Drama Production that adds depth to the camp experience. Showcrest, held during the 6th week of camp, is an evening event hosted at a local venue and features professional-grade sound and lighting, creating a truly remarkable spectacle.
Low Ropes
Climbing and Ropes Courses are integral components of the Summer Camp experience at Oak Crest’s location in 08541, NJ. We have designed a low ropes course with dual objectives: to enhance gross motor skills development in our young campers and to equip them with the necessary skills for navigating our Climbing Tower. During their participation in the Low Ropes Course, our young campers engage in activities such as climbing, exploration, and swinging, all of which take place just inches above the ground.
To ensure the highest level of safety, our ropes courses undergo rigorous inspection and certification by the company responsible for their construction at the beginning of each season. Moreover, our certified ropes instructors, who lead the groups through all ropes courses, perform daily checks to maintain a secure environment for the campers.
Learn to Swim
Swimming is not just a life skill; it’s a crucial proficiency, and at our 08541, NJ location, we offer the ideal environment for its acquisition in our state-of-the-art 12,000 square foot Aquatic Complex. Our unwavering commitment to excellence is reflected in our annual instructor training, which draws upon both American Red Cross guidelines and a wealth of practical experience gained over 25 years of teaching children to swim. We wholeheartedly assure you that your child will achieve mastery in swimming at Oak Crest.
For beginners, our Aquatic Facility is equipped with two shallow pools to ensure even the youngest campers can comfortably stand, significantly enhancing their comfort and initial progress. Every morning, our campers participate in a 40-minute swim lesson conducted by a certified swim instructor, with assistance from group counselors. In the afternoons, they return to the Aquatic Complex for 40 minutes of free swim, fostering camaraderie with both fellow campers and group counselors.
Social Development
One of the most captivating facets of the camp experience is the cultivation of children’s proficiency in navigating group dynamics. This process contributes to the development of heightened confidence and independence among campers. As they transition between various activities, the group actively participates in nurturing friendships, collaborative endeavors, sharing, taking turns, and acquiring the ability to interact respectfully with both their peers and staff members. Our dedicated staff is committed to empowering Munchkin campers to express their thoughts using words and facilitating direct communication. Oak Crest offers a nurturing environment where children acquire the emotional and social skills necessary for success in life.
Munchkin Lunch
To cater to the specific nutritional needs of our preschool campers, the Munchkins have a dedicated dining arrangement separate from the rest of the camp. They enjoy the first lunch period of the day, allowing for a focused and age-appropriate mealtime. Our Oak Crest Staff is highly attentive to any dietary requirements your child may have, guaranteeing a personalized and accommodating approach to their dietary needs.
