In 08542, New Jersey, Oak Crest offers both a 5 full-day program and a 3 full-day program. In our Munchkin Division, we maintain an optimal camper-to-staff ratio, typically ranging from 10 to 12 campers per 3 to 4 staff members. Additionally, each activity is supervised by a Munchkin Specialist, who undergoes specialized training to cater to the specific needs of 3, 4, and 5-year-olds.
The Munchkin Program focuses on a threefold approach: enhancing gross and fine motor skills through engaging athletic and creative activities, imparting swimming skills, and fostering social development.
Munchkin Athletics
Oak Crest provides modified versions of various sports activities tailored to the developmental stage of our youngest campers. These adaptations include mini-soccer, mini-basketball, t-ball, and gymnastics, designed to facilitate success and skill development for 3, 4, and 5-year-olds. Our athletic specialists are highly trained to work with children in this age group, ensuring that your child learns the fundamental skills of these sports in an age-appropriate and engaging manner.
Creative Arts
Located in 08542, New Jersey, Oak Crest’s Creative Arts Center is a distinguished hub for artistic expression. Children have the opportunity to engage in a wide array of artistic activities in well-appointed, air-conditioned classrooms under the guidance of experienced art instructors. Our campers actively participate in diverse activities such as ceramics, music, cooking, drama, nature exploration, dance, digital photography, jewelry making, computers, and more on a weekly basis.
In addition to these enriching activities, each Munchkin group contributes to the annual Showcrest, a grand production that combines dance and drama. This event, held during the 6th week of camp, takes place in the evening at a local venue and features professional-grade sound and lighting, creating a truly remarkable spectacle.
Low Ropes
Climbing and Ropes Courses are integral elements of the Summer Camp experience at Oak Crest’s 08542, NJ location. We have developed a low ropes course with two primary objectives: promoting the development of gross motor skills in our Munchkin campers and equipping them with the necessary skills to navigate our Climbing Tower. During their time on the Low Ropes Course, our young campers engage in climbing, exploration, and swinging activities, all while remaining just inches above the ground.
To ensure the highest level of safety, our ropes courses undergo rigorous inspection and certification by the company responsible for their construction at the start of each season. Additionally, our certified ropes instructors, who guide the groups through all ropes courses, conduct daily checks to maintain a secure environment for the campers.
Learn to Swim
Swimming is not just a life skill; it is a crucial proficiency that is best acquired in our newly established, cutting-edge 12,000 square foot Aquatic Complex located in 08542, NJ. Our commitment to excellence is demonstrated through our annual instructor training program, which incorporates American Red Cross guidelines and draws upon our extensive practical experience of over 25 years in teaching children to swim. We wholeheartedly guarantee that your child will achieve swimming mastery at Oak Crest.
For our beginner swimmers, our state-of-the-art Aquatic Facility boasts two shallow pools, ensuring that even the youngest campers can comfortably stand, enhancing their initial comfort and progress. Each morning, our campers participate in a 40-minute swim lesson led by a certified swim instructor, with the assistance of group counselors. In the afternoons, they return to the Aquatic Complex for 40 minutes of free swim, promoting camaraderie among fellow campers and group counselors alike.
Social Development
A significant and captivating aspect of the camp experience is the nurturing of children’s capacity to navigate group dynamics. This process leads to the development of increased confidence and independence in campers. As they transition between different activities, the camp groups actively participate in the cultivation of friendships, collaborative efforts, sharing, taking turns, and acquiring the ability to interact respectfully with both peers and staff members. Our dedicated staff members empower Munchkin campers to express themselves effectively using words and assist them in developing direct communication skills. Oak Crest offers a supportive environment where children acquire vital emotional and social skills that are fundamental for success in life.
Munchkin Lunch
In order to cater to the specific nutritional needs of our preschool campers, the Munchkin group has a distinct dining arrangement, enjoying the initial lunch period of the day separately from the rest of the camp. The Oak Crest Staff is diligent in addressing any dietary requirements your child may have, ensuring a personalized and accommodating approach to their meals.
