In 08544, New Jersey, Oak Crest offers both a 5 full-day program and a 3 full-day program. Within our Munchkin Division, we maintain an exceptional camper-to-staff ratio, typically ranging from 10 to 12 campers accompanied by 3 to 4 staff members. Furthermore, each activity is supervised by a Munchkin Specialist who is specifically recruited and trained to meet the needs of children aged 3, 4, and 5.
The Munchkin Program emphasizes a comprehensive threefold approach: enhancing gross and fine motor skills through engaging athletic and creative activities, imparting swimming skills, and fostering social development.
Munchkin Athletics
At Oak Crest, we provide modified versions of various sports activities tailored to our youngest campers. Our offerings include mini-soccer, mini-basketball, t-ball, and gymnastics, all designed to ensure that even our 3, 4, and 5-year-old campers can experience success in these sports. Our athletic specialists are specifically trained to work with children of this age group, guiding them in acquiring the fundamental skills of these sports in a manner that is age-appropriate and engaging.
Creative Arts
Located in 08544, New Jersey, Oak Crest’s Creative Arts Center serves as an exceptional hub for fostering artistic expression. Here, your child will have the opportunity to engage in a wide spectrum of artistic activities, all within well-appointed, air-conditioned classrooms under the guidance of experienced art instructors. Our campers actively participate in diverse activities such as ceramics, music, cooking, drama, nature exploration, dance, digital photography, jewelry making, computers, and more on a weekly basis.
Furthermore, adding depth to the overall experience, each Munchkin group contributes to the annual Showcrest, a grand production involving dance and drama. This event, held during the sixth week of camp, is far from modest; it takes place in the evening at a local venue and features professional-grade sound and lighting, creating a truly remarkable spectacle.
Low Ropes
Climbing and Ropes Courses are integral components of the Summer Camp experience at Oak Crest’s 08544, NJ location. We have established a low ropes course with dual objectives: enhancing the development of gross motor skills in our Munchkin campers and equipping them with the necessary skills for navigating our Climbing Tower. During their participation in the Low Ropes Course, our young campers engage in activities such as climbing, exploring, and swinging, all while being just inches above the ground.
To ensure the utmost safety, our ropes courses undergo comprehensive inspections and certifications by the company responsible for their construction at the beginning of each season. Furthermore, our certified ropes instructors, who guide the groups through all ropes courses, conduct daily checks to maintain a secure environment for the campers.
Learn to Swim
Swimming is not just a life skill but an essential proficiency that is best acquired at our newly established, cutting-edge 12,000 square foot Aquatic Complex in the 08544, NJ location. Our commitment to excellence is demonstrated through our annual training of instructors, which incorporates American Red Cross guidelines and over 25 years of practical experience in teaching children to swim. We confidently guarantee that your child will become a proficient swimmer at Oak Crest.
For our beginner swimmers, our state-of-the-art Aquatic Facility includes two shallow pools, ensuring that even the youngest campers can comfortably stand. This significantly enhances their comfort level and initial progress. Each morning, our campers participate in a 40-minute swim lesson led by a certified swim instructor, with the assistance of group counselors. In the afternoons, they return to the Aquatic Complex for 40 minutes of free swim, fostering camaraderie with fellow campers and group counselors alike.
Social Development
One of the most captivating aspects of the camp experience is the fostering of children’s ability to navigate group dynamics. This process contributes to the development of increased confidence and independence among the campers. As they transition between various activities, the group actively participates in building friendships, collaborative efforts, sharing, taking turns, and learning to interact respectfully with both peers and staff. Our dedicated staff plays a pivotal role in empowering Munchkin campers to express their thoughts verbally and guiding them in effective communication. Oak Crest creates a nurturing environment where children acquire the emotional and social skills that are crucial for success in life.
Munchkin Lunch
To meet the nutritional needs of our preschool campers, Munchkins have a dedicated dining arrangement separate from the rest of the camp, with their lunch served during the first period of the day. The Oak Crest Staff is highly attentive to any specific dietary requirements your child may have, guaranteeing a personalized and accommodating approach to their meals.
