In the 08550 area of New Jersey, Oak Crest offers both a 5 full-day program and a 3 full-day program. Within our Munchkin Division, we maintain an exceptional camper-to-staff ratio, typically ranging from 10 to 12 campers with 3 to 4 staff members per group. Additionally, each activity is supervised by a dedicated Munchkin Specialist, specifically selected and trained to address the unique needs of 3, 4, and 5-year-olds.
The Munchkin Program adopts a comprehensive approach, focusing on three key areas:
1. Enhancing gross and fine motor skills through engaging athletic and creative activities.
2. Developing swimming skills.
3. Promoting social development.
Munchkin Athletics
Oak Crest provides modified versions of various sports activities tailored to our youngest campers. These adaptations include mini-soccer, mini-basketball, t-ball, and gymnastics, designed to ensure that our 3, 4, and 5-year-olds can experience success. Our athletic specialists, who have undergone specialized training for working with this age group, guide your child in mastering the fundamental skills of these sports in an age-appropriate and engaging manner.
Creative Arts
Located in 08550, New Jersey, Oak Crest’s Creative Arts Center serves as an exceptional hub for artistic expression. Your child will have the opportunity to engage in a wide range of artistic activities within well-appointed, air-conditioned classrooms, guided by experienced art instructors. Our campers actively participate in activities such as Ceramics, Music, Cooking, Drama, Nature exploration, Dance, Digital Photography, Jewelry Making, Computers, and more on a weekly basis.
In addition to these creative endeavors, each Munchkin group contributes to the annual Showcrest, a grand Dance and Drama Production that is far from modest. This tradition takes place during the 6th week of camp, unfolding in the evening at a local venue with professional-grade sound and lighting, creating a truly remarkable spectacle.
Low Ropes
The Summer Camp adventure at Oak Crest’s 08550, NJ location incorporates essential elements of climbing and ropes courses. We have established a low ropes course with two primary objectives: enhancing the development of gross motor skills in our Munchkins and equipping them with the necessary skills for navigating our Climbing Tower. During their engagement with the Low Ropes Course, our young campers actively participate in climbing, exploration, and swinging, all while being just inches above the ground.
To ensure the highest level of safety, our ropes courses undergo rigorous inspection and certification by the company responsible for their construction at the beginning of each season. Furthermore, our certified ropes instructors, who oversee the groups during all ropes courses, conduct daily checks to maintain a secure environment for the campers.
Learn to Swim
Swimming transcends being a mere life skill; it represents a fundamental proficiency that is best cultivated at our recently established, state-of-the-art 12,000 square foot Aquatic Complex in the 08550, NJ location. Our unwavering commitment to excellence is exemplified by our annual instructor training program, which draws upon American Red Cross guidelines and a wealth of practical experience accumulated over 25 years in teaching children to swim. We firmly guarantee that your child will achieve swimming mastery at Oak Crest.
For our novice swimmers, our cutting-edge Aquatic Facility boasts two shallow pools, ensuring that even the youngest campers can comfortably stand. This design significantly enhances their comfort level and initial progress in learning to swim. Each morning, our campers partake in a 40-minute swim lesson led by a certified swim instructor, with the assistance of group counselors. In the afternoons, they return to the Aquatic Complex for 40 minutes of free swim, fostering camaraderie with both fellow campers and group counselors.
Social Development
A central and captivating aspect of the camp experience revolves around nurturing children’s proficiency in navigating group dynamics. This transformative process fosters heightened confidence and independence in campers. As they transition between diverse activities, the group actively participates in building friendships, collaborative endeavors, sharing, taking turns, and acquiring the ability to interact respectfully with both peers and staff members. Our dedicated staff members empower Munchkin campers to express their thoughts verbally and guide them in effective communication. Oak Crest offers a nurturing environment where children develop essential emotional and social skills crucial for lifelong success.
Munchkin Lunch
In catering to the nutritional needs of our preschool campers, the Munchkins have a distinct dining arrangement that grants them the privilege of the first lunch period of the day, separate from the rest of the camp. The Oak Crest Staff diligently takes into account any dietary requirements your child may have, ensuring a personalized and accommodating approach to their meals.
