3-5 Year Olds (Munchkins) Summer Camp near 08558

In 08558, New Jersey, Oak Crest offers both a 5 full-day program and a 3 full-day program. Our Munchkin Division maintains an exceptionally low camper-to-staff ratio, typically ranging from 10 to 12 campers per group with 3 to 4 staff members per group. Additionally, each activity is supervised by a dedicated Munchkin Specialist who has undergone specialized training to cater to the specific needs of children aged 3, 4, and 5.

The Munchkin Program is centered on a threefold approach: first, it focuses on enhancing gross and fine motor skills through engaging athletic and creative activities. Second, it emphasizes the acquisition of swimming skills. Third, it promotes social development in our young campers.

Munchkin Athletics

At Oak Crest, we provide modified versions of a range of sports activities tailored to our youngest campers. These scaled-down adaptations include mini-soccer, mini-basketball, t-ball, and gymnastics. Our athletic specialists are specially trained to work with children aged 3, 4, and 5, ensuring that your child can develop fundamental skills in these sports in a manner that is both age-appropriate and engaging.

Creative Arts

Nestled in 08558, New Jersey, Oak Crest boasts a Creative Arts Center that serves as an exceptional hub for fostering artistic expression. Here, your child will have the opportunity to engage in a diverse array of artistic activities conducted in well-appointed, air-conditioned classrooms under the guidance of experienced art instructors.

Our campers actively participate in a wide range of activities on a weekly basis, including Ceramics, Music, Cooking, Drama, Nature exploration, Dance, Digital Photography, Jewelry Making, Computers, and more.

Enhancing the overall experience, each Munchkin group contributes to the annual Showcrest, a grand Dance and Drama Production. This event, occurring during the 6th week of camp, is far from modest; it unfolds in the evening at a local venue, complete with professional-grade sound and lighting, creating a truly remarkable spectacle for all involved.

Low Ropes

Climbing and Ropes Courses play integral roles in our Summer Camp adventure. Located in 08558, New Jersey, Oak Crest offers a low ropes course with dual objectives: fostering the development of gross motor skills in our Munchkin campers and equipping them with the necessary skills for navigating our Climbing Tower. During their time on the Low Ropes Course, our young campers engage in activities such as climbing, exploring, and swinging, all while being just inches above the ground.

To ensure the highest level of safety, our ropes courses undergo thorough inspection and certification by the construction company responsible for their creation at the start of each season. In addition to this, our certified ropes instructors, who guide the groups through all ropes courses, perform daily checks to maintain a secure environment for our campers.

Learn to Swim

Swimming transcends being a mere life skill; it represents a crucial proficiency that is best cultivated in our newly established, state-of-the-art 12,000 square foot Aquatic Complex situated in 08558, New Jersey. Our unwavering commitment to excellence is exemplified by our annual instructor training program, which draws from both American Red Cross guidelines and over 25 years of practical experience in teaching children to swim. We confidently guarantee that your child will master the art of swimming at Oak Crest.

For our novice swimmers, our Aquatic Facility boasts two shallow pools, designed to ensure even the youngest campers can comfortably stand. This design significantly enhances their comfort and facilitates initial progress. Each morning, our campers participate in a 40-minute swim lesson led by a certified swim instructor, with assistance from group counselors. In the afternoons, they return to the Aquatic Complex for 40 minutes of free swim, fostering camaraderie with fellow campers and group counselors alike.

Social Development

One of the most captivating facets of the camp experience centers around the development of children’s proficiency in managing group dynamics. This process instills in them a heightened sense of confidence and independence. As they transition between different activities, the group actively participates in nurturing friendships, fostering collaborative efforts, sharing, taking turns, and acquiring the ability to interact respectfully with both their peers and the staff.

Our committed staff plays a pivotal role in empowering Munchkin campers to express their thoughts using words and guiding them in direct communication. Oak Crest fosters a nurturing environment where children acquire essential emotional and social skills that are integral to achieving success in life.

Munchkin Lunch

To cater to the specific nutritional needs of our preschool campers, the Munchkins have a dedicated dining arrangement separate from the rest of the camp, where they enjoy the first lunch period of the day. Our Oak Crest Staff is highly attentive to any dietary requirements your child may have, and we prioritize a personalized and accommodating approach to ensure their well-being.
