In the 08805 area of New Jersey, Oak Crest offers both a 5 full-day program and a 3 full-day program for children. Our Munchkin Division maintains an exceptional camper-to-staff ratio, typically ranging from 10 to 12 campers, each accompanied by 3 to 4 staff members. Additionally, we have dedicated Munchkin Specialists who are specially recruited and trained to meet the unique needs of 3, 4, and 5-year-olds.
The Munchkin Program follows a comprehensive threefold approach, which includes the development of gross and fine motor skills through engaging athletic and creative activities, the teaching of swimming skills, and the promotion of social development.
Oak Crest provides modified versions of various sports activities tailored to our young campers. From miniature soccer and basketball to t-ball and gymnastics, we have adjusted traditional sports to ensure that our 3, 4, and 5-year-old campers can experience success. Our athletic specialists are specifically trained to work with this age group, guiding your child in learning the fundamental skills of these sports in a developmentally appropriate and engaging manner.
Located in 08805, New Jersey, Oak Crest’s Creative Arts Center is a distinguished hub for fostering artistic expression. Adding to the enriching experience, each Munchkin group contributes to the annual Showcrest, a grand dance and drama production. Climbing and ropes courses are integral elements of the Summer Camp experience at Oak Crest’s 08805, NJ location. We have established a low ropes course with dual objectives: facilitating the development of gross motor skills in our Munchkins and equipping them with the essential skills needed to navigate our Climbing Tower. During their time on the Low Ropes Course, our young campers engage in climbing, exploration, and swinging, all while being just inches above the ground.
To ensure the highest level of safety, our ropes courses undergo thorough inspection and certification by the company responsible for their construction at the start of each season. Additionally, our certified ropes instructors, who guide the groups through all ropes courses, conduct daily checks to maintain a secure environment for the campers.
Swimming is not merely a life skill but also a crucial proficiency, and at our 08805, NJ location, we offer the ideal environment for acquiring this skill in our newly established, cutting-edge 12,000 square foot Aquatic Complex. Our unwavering commitment to excellence is exemplified through our annual instructor training, which draws from American Red Cross guidelines and over 25 years of practical experience in teaching children to swim. We unconditionally guarantee that your child will master the art of swimming at Oak Crest.
For our beginners, our state-of-the-art Aquatic Facility features two shallow pools, ensuring that even the youngest campers can comfortably stand, greatly enhancing their comfort and initial progress. Each morning, our campers partake in a 40-minute swim lesson led by a certified swim instructor, with the assistance of group counselors. In the afternoons, they return to the Aquatic Complex for 40 minutes of free swim, fostering camaraderie with both fellow campers and group counselors.
A significant and captivating aspect of the camp experience revolves around nurturing children’s capacity to navigate group dynamics, fostering increased confidence and independence. As campers transition between various activities, they actively participate in cultivating friendships, engaging in collaborative efforts, sharing, taking turns, and learning to interact respectfully with both peers and staff. Our devoted staff empowers Munchkin campers to express their thoughts verbally and supports them in direct communication. Oak Crest offers a nurturing environment where children acquire the emotional and social skills that are vital for success in life.
To cater to the specific nutritional needs of our preschool campers, the Munchkins have a dedicated dining arrangement separate from the rest of the camp, with their lunch served during the first lunch period of the day. The Oak Crest Staff is highly attentive to any dietary requirements your child may have, ensuring a personalized and accommodating approach to their meals.
