In 08807, NJ, Oak Crest offers both a 5 full-day program and a 3 full-day program for young children. Our Munchkin Division maintains an exceptional camper-to-staff ratio, typically ranging from 10 to 12 campers per 3 to 4 staff members. Additionally, each activity is supervised by a dedicated Munchkin Specialist, specially recruited and trained to cater to the specific needs of 3, 4, and 5-year-olds.
The Munchkin Program focuses on a threefold approach, emphasizing the development of gross and fine motor skills through engaging athletic and creative activities, the acquisition of swimming skills, and the promotion of social development.
Munchkin Athletics
Oak Crest provides tailored versions of a variety of sports activities, catering to the developmental needs of our youngest campers. Our offerings include mini-soccer, mini-basketball, t-ball, and gymnastics, all adapted to ensure that children aged 3, 4, and 5 can experience success in these sports. Our athletic specialists are specifically trained to work with this age group, guiding your child in acquiring fundamental sports skills in a manner that is age-appropriate and engaging.
Creative Arts
Located in 08807, NJ, Oak Crest’s Creative Arts Center serves as a prominent hub for fostering artistic expression. Here, your child will have the opportunity to engage in a wide array of artistic activities within well-appointed, air-conditioned classrooms under the guidance of experienced art instructors.
Weekly, our campers actively participate in a diverse range of activities including Ceramics, Music, Cooking, Drama, Nature exploration, Dance, Digital Photography, Jewelry Making, Computers, and more. What adds depth to this experience is that each Munchkin group contributes to the annual Showcrest, an impressive Dance and Drama Production. Low Ropes
Climbing and Ropes Courses are integral components of the Summer Camp experience at Oak Crest’s 08807, NJ location. We have established a low ropes course with a dual purpose: to develop gross motor skills in our Munchkins and equip them with the essential skills needed to navigate our Climbing Tower. During their time on the Low Ropes Course, our young campers engage in activities such as climbing, exploring, and swinging, all while being just inches above the ground.
To ensure the utmost safety, our ropes courses undergo thorough inspection and certification by the company responsible for their construction at the beginning of each season. In addition, our certified ropes instructors, who guide the groups through all ropes courses, conduct daily checks to maintain a secure environment for the campers.
Learn to Swim
Swimming is more than just a life skill; it’s a vital proficiency that is best acquired at our newly established, state-of-the-art 12,000 square foot Aquatic Complex in the 08807, NJ location. Our commitment to excellence is evident in our annual training of instructors, which incorporates American Red Cross guidelines and draws upon over 25 years of practical experience in teaching children to swim. We guarantee without reservation that your child will become proficient in swimming at Oak Crest.
For our beginner swimmers, our cutting-edge Aquatic Facility features two shallow pools, ensuring that even the youngest campers can comfortably stand, which greatly enhances their comfort and initial progress. Each morning, our campers participate in a 40-minute swim lesson led by a certified swim instructor, with the assistance of group counselors. In the afternoons, they return to the Aquatic Complex for 40 minutes of free swim, promoting camaraderie with fellow campers and group counselors.
Social Development
One of the most captivating elements of the camp experience is the development of children’s ability to navigate group dynamics, leading to increased confidence and independence. As they participate in various activities, the group actively fosters friendships, collaborative efforts, sharing, turn-taking, and respectful interaction with both peers and staff. Our dedicated staff empowers Munchkin campers to express themselves verbally and facilitates direct communication. Munchkin Lunch
To meet the nutritional needs of our preschool campers, Munchkins have a dedicated dining arrangement, enjoying the first lunch period of the day separate from the rest of the camp. Our Oak Crest Staff is highly attentive to any dietary requirements your child may have, guaranteeing a personalized and accommodating approach to their meals.
