3-5 Year Olds (Munchkins) Summer Camp near 08817

In 08817, NJ, Oak Crest offers both 5 full-day and 3 full-day programs. In our Munchkin Division, we maintain an optimal camper-to-staff ratio, typically ranging from 10 to 12 campers with 3 to 4 staff members. Each activity is supervised by a Munchkin Specialist who is specially recruited and trained to meet the needs of 3, 4, and 5-year-olds.

The Munchkin Program focuses on three key aspects: enhancing gross and fine motor skills through engaging athletic and creative activities, teaching swimming skills, and fostering social development.

Munchkin Athletics

At Oak Crest, we provide modified versions of various sports activities tailored to our youngest campers. These adaptations include mini-soccer, mini-basketball, t-ball, and gymnastics, designed to ensure that our 3, 4, and 5-year-old campers can experience success. Our athletic specialists, who undergo specific training for working with this age group, guide your child in acquiring fundamental skills in these sports in a manner that is both age-appropriate and engaging.

Creative Arts

Nestled in 08817, NJ, Oak Crest’s Creative Arts Center serves as a remarkable hub for artistic expression. Your child will have the opportunity to engage in a wide array of artistic activities held in well-appointed, air-conditioned classrooms, led by experienced art instructors. Our campers actively participate in diverse activities such as Ceramics, Music, Cooking, Drama, Nature exploration, Dance, Digital Photography, Jewelry Making, Computers, and more on a weekly basis.

Adding depth to the experience, each Munchkin group contributes to the annual Showcrest, an extravagant Dance and Drama Production. Far from a modest event, Showcrest, a tradition held during the 6th week of camp, unfolds in the evening at a local venue, featuring professional-grade sound and lighting to create a truly remarkable spectacle.

Low Ropes

Climbing and Ropes Courses are integral components of the Summer Camp experience at Oak Crest’s 08817, NJ location. We have established a low ropes course with dual objectives: promoting the development of gross motor skills in our young campers and equipping them with the necessary skills to navigate our Climbing Tower. During their participation in the Low Ropes Course, our young campers engage in climbing, exploration, and swinging activities, all while being just inches above the ground.

To ensure the utmost safety, our ropes courses undergo thorough inspection and certification by the company responsible for their construction at the beginning of each season. Furthermore, our certified ropes instructors, who oversee the groups during all ropes courses, conduct daily checks to maintain a secure environment for the campers.

Learn to Swim

Swimming is not merely a life skill; it’s a vital proficiency best acquired in our newly established, state-of-the-art 12,000 square foot Aquatic Complex at the 08817, NJ location. Our unwavering commitment to excellence is demonstrated through our annual instructor training program, which draws from American Red Cross guidelines and over 25 years of practical experience in teaching children to swim. We wholeheartedly guarantee that your child will master the art of swimming at Oak Crest.

For our beginner swimmers, our Aquatic Facility boasts two shallow pools, ensuring that even the youngest campers can comfortably stand. This enhances their comfort level and initial progress significantly. Each morning, our campers partake in a 40-minute swim lesson led by a certified swim instructor, with assistance from group counselors. In the afternoons, they return to the Aquatic Complex for 40 minutes of free swim, fostering camaraderie with fellow campers and group counselors alike.

Social Development

A central and captivating facet of the camp experience centers on nurturing children’s proficiency in navigating group dynamics. This process fosters the development of heightened confidence and independence. As campers transition between different activities, the group actively participates in fostering friendships, collaborative efforts, sharing, taking turns, and learning to engage respectfully with both peers and staff. Our dedicated staff plays a pivotal role in empowering Munchkin campers to express their thoughts verbally and guiding them in direct communication. At Oak Crest, we create a nurturing environment where children acquire the emotional and social skills that are indispensable for success in life.

Munchkin Lunch

In order to cater to the specific nutritional needs of our preschool campers, the Munchkins have a distinct dining arrangement, partaking in the first lunch period of the day separate from the rest of the camp. The Oak Crest Staff is highly attentive to any dietary requirements your child may have, ensuring a personalized and accommodating approach to their meals.
