In the 08820 area of New Jersey, Oak Crest offers two program options: a 5 full-day program and a 3 full-day program. Our Munchkin Division maintains an exceptional camper-to-staff ratio, typically ranging from 10 to 12 campers per 3 to 4 staff members. Additionally, each activity is supervised by a specialized Munchkin Specialist, extensively trained to cater to the unique needs of 3, 4, and 5-year-olds.
The Munchkin Program focuses on a comprehensive approach, encompassing the development of both gross and fine motor skills through engaging athletic and creative activities, the acquisition of swimming proficiency, and the promotion of social development.
Munchkin Athletics
Oak Crest provides modified versions of various sports activities tailored to our youngest campers. These adaptations include mini-soccer, mini-basketball, t-ball, and gymnastics, ensuring that even the youngest participants can experience success. Our athletic specialists, trained specifically to work with 3, 4, and 5-year-old campers, guide your child in learning the foundational skills of these sports in an age-appropriate and engaging manner.
Creative Arts
Nestled in the 08820 area of New Jersey, Oak Crest boasts an exceptional Creative Arts Center, serving as a premier hub for fostering artistic expression. Here, your child can engage in a wide array of artistic activities, all conducted in well-appointed, air-conditioned classrooms under the guidance of experienced art instructors.
Our campers actively participate in weekly activities that encompass a diverse range of artistic endeavors, including ceramics, music, cooking, drama, nature exploration, dance, digital photography, jewelry making, computers, and more.
Adding to the richness of this experience, each Munchkin group contributes to the annual Showcrest, a grand Dance and Drama Production. This is not a modest event by any means; Showcrest, a cherished tradition held during the 6th week of camp, takes place in the evening at a local venue, complete with professional-grade sound and lighting to create a truly remarkable spectacle.
Low Ropes
Climbing and ropes courses are integral components of the Summer Camp experience at Oak Crest’s 08820, NJ location. We have established a low ropes course with dual objectives: promoting the development of gross motor skills in our Munchkins and equipping them with the essential skills needed to navigate our Climbing Tower. During their time on the Low Ropes Course, our young campers engage in climbing, exploration, and swinging activities, all while being just inches above the ground.
To ensure the utmost safety, our ropes courses undergo a thorough inspection and certification process by the construction company responsible for them at the beginning of each season. Furthermore, our certified ropes instructors, who guide the groups through all ropes courses, conduct daily checks to maintain a secure and safe environment for the campers.
Learn to Swim
Swimming is not just a basic life skill; it’s a crucial proficiency that is best acquired at our newly established, state-of-the-art 12,000 square foot Aquatic Complex located in 08820, NJ. Our unwavering commitment to excellence is demonstrated through our annual training of instructors, which draws from both American Red Cross guidelines and a wealth of practical experience spanning over 25 years in teaching children to swim. We firmly guarantee that your child will achieve mastery in swimming at Oak Crest.
For our beginners, our Aquatic Facility is equipped with two shallow pools, ensuring that even the youngest campers can comfortably stand. This setup significantly enhances their comfort level and initial progress. Each morning, our campers participate in a 40-minute swim lesson led by a certified swim instructor, with assistance from group counselors. In the afternoons, they return to the Aquatic Complex for 40 minutes of free swim, promoting camaraderie with fellow campers and group counselors alike.
Social Development
The most captivating facet of the camp experience revolves around nurturing children’s proficiency in managing group dynamics. Through this process, they cultivate increased confidence and independence. As they transition between different activities, the group actively participates in promoting friendships, collaborative endeavors, sharing, taking turns, and acquiring the ability to interact respectfully with both peers and staff.
Our dedicated staff plays a pivotal role in empowering Munchkin campers to express their thoughts using verbal communication and guides them in direct communication. At Oak Crest, we offer a nurturing environment where children acquire the emotional and social skills that are pivotal for success in life.
Munchkin Lunch
To cater to the nutritional needs of our preschool campers, Munchkins have a dedicated dining arrangement separate from the rest of the camp, where they enjoy the first lunch period of the day. The Oak Crest Staff is highly attentive to any dietary requirements your child may have, ensuring a personalized and accommodating approach to their meals.
