In 08823, New Jersey, Oak Crest offers both a 5 full-day program and a 3 full-day program for young campers. Our Munchkin Division boasts an exceptional camper-to-staff ratio, typically ranging from 10 to 12 campers per 3 to 4 staff members. Additionally, each activity is supervised by a dedicated Munchkin Specialist, meticulously selected and trained to meet the specific needs of children aged 3, 4, and 5.
The Munchkin Program is structured around a comprehensive threefold approach, focusing on the development of gross and fine motor skills through engaging athletic and creative activities, the acquisition of essential swimming skills, and the nurturing of social development.
Munchkin Athletics
Oak Crest provides modified versions of various sports activities tailored to our youngest campers. These adaptations encompass mini-soccer, mini-basketball, t-ball, and gymnastics, enabling children to experience success in these traditional sports. Our athletic specialists are highly trained to work specifically with 3, 4, and 5-year-old campers, ensuring your child learns the fundamental skills of these sports in a manner that is both age-appropriate and engaging.
Creative Arts
Located in 08823, New Jersey, Oak Crest’s Creative Arts Center serves as a distinguished hub for artistic expression. Here, your child can engage in a diverse array of artistic activities within well-appointed, air-conditioned classrooms, all guided by experienced art instructors. Our campers actively participate in a variety of activities each week, including Ceramics, Music, Cooking, Drama, Nature exploration, Dance, Digital Photography, Jewelry Making, Computers, and more.
Adding to the depth of this artistic experience, each Munchkin group contributes to the annual Showcrest, an extravagant Dance and Drama Production. This event, taking place during the 6th week of camp, is far from modest. It unfolds in the evening at a local venue, complete with professional-grade sound and lighting, creating a truly remarkable spectacle.
Low Ropes
Climbing and Ropes Courses are integral aspects of the Summer Camp experience at Oak Crest’s 08823, NJ location. We have designed a low ropes course with a dual purpose: promoting the development of gross motor skills in our Munchkin campers and equipping them with the necessary skills for our Climbing Tower. During their time on the Low Ropes Course, our young campers engage in climbing, exploration, and swinging activities, all while staying just inches above the ground.
We prioritize safety by subjecting our ropes courses to rigorous inspection and certification by the construction company at the start of each season. Furthermore, our certified ropes instructors, who lead the groups through all ropes courses, conduct daily checks to ensure a secure environment for the campers.
Learn to Swim
Swimming is not just a life skill; it’s a fundamental proficiency best cultivated at our newly established, state-of-the-art 12,000 square foot Aquatic Complex in the 08823, NJ location. Our unwavering commitment to excellence is demonstrated through our annual training of instructors, which incorporates American Red Cross guidelines and draws upon over 25 years of practical experience in teaching children how to swim. We confidently assure you that your child will attain mastery in swimming at Oak Crest.
For our novice swimmers, our Aquatic Facility is equipped with two shallow pools, ensuring that even the youngest campers can comfortably stand in the water. This significantly enhances their comfort and initial progress. Each morning, our campers partake in a 40-minute swim lesson led by a certified swim instructor, with support from group counselors. In the afternoons, they return to the Aquatic Complex for 40 minutes of free swim, fostering camaraderie among fellow campers and group counselors alike.
Social Development
One of the most captivating facets of the camp experience is the fostering of children’s proficiency in navigating group dynamics, leading to the development of increased confidence and independence. As they transition between diverse activities, campers actively participate in building friendships, engaging in collaborative endeavors, practicing sharing and taking turns, and learning to interact respectfully with both peers and staff. Our committed staff members empower Munchkin campers to express themselves verbally and facilitate direct communication. Oak Crest offers a nurturing environment where children acquire essential emotional and social skills vital for success in life.
Munchkin Lunch
To cater to the specific nutritional needs of our preschool campers, Munchkins have their dedicated dining arrangement separate from the rest of the camp, enjoying the first lunch period of the day. Our Oak Crest Staff is vigilant regarding any dietary requirements your child may have, ensuring a personalized and accommodating approach to their meals.
