In the 08837 area of New Jersey, Oak Crest offers both a 5 full-day program and a 3 full-day program. Our Munchkin Division is characterized by an exceptional camper-to-staff ratio, typically ranging from 10 to 12 campers accompanied by 3 to 4 staff members. Additionally, every activity is supervised by a specialized Munchkin Specialist, meticulously recruited and trained to address the unique needs of 3, 4, and 5-year-olds.
The Munchkin Program focuses on a comprehensive threefold approach:
1. Enhancing gross and fine motor skills through engaging athletic and creative activities.2. Acquiring essential swimming skills.3. Promoting social development among young campers.
Munchkin Athletics
At Oak Crest, we provide tailored versions of a variety of sports activities designed to suit the abilities of our youngest campers. Whether it’s mini-soccer, mini-basketball, t-ball, or gymnastics, we have modified traditional sports to ensure that even 3, 4, and 5-year-olds can experience success. Our athletic specialists are highly trained to work with children of this age group, guiding them in mastering the fundamental skills of these sports in an age-appropriate and captivating manner. Your child will take delight in this engaging and developmentally appropriate sports experience.

To enhance the overall experience, each Munchkin group contributes to the annual Showcrest, a grand Dance and Drama Production. This is far from a modest event; Showcrest, held during the 6th week of camp, takes place in the evening at a local venue and features professional-grade sound and lighting, creating a truly remarkable and unforgettable spectacle.
Low Ropes
Climbing and Ropes Courses are integral components of the Summer Camp experience at Oak Crest’s 08837, NJ location. We have designed a low ropes course with dual objectives: first, to promote the development of gross motor skills among our Munchkins, and second, to equip them with the necessary skills for navigating our Climbing Tower. During their time on the Low Ropes Course, our young campers engage in activities involving climbing, exploration, and swinging, all while being just inches above the ground.
To ensure the utmost safety of our campers, our ropes courses undergo a comprehensive inspection and certification process by the company responsible for their construction at the beginning of each season. Furthermore, our certified ropes instructors, who lead the groups through all ropes courses, conduct daily checks to maintain a secure and safe environment for our campers.
Learn to Swim
Swimming is not just a life skill; it’s a crucial proficiency that is best acquired at our newly established, state-of-the-art 12,000 square foot Aquatic Complex located in 08837, NJ. Our commitment to excellence is evident through our annual instructor training, which incorporates both American Red Cross guidelines and more than 25 years of practical experience in teaching children to swim. We unequivocally guarantee that your child will master the art of swimming at Oak Crest.
For our beginners, our advanced Aquatic Facility boasts two shallow pools, ensuring that even the youngest campers can comfortably stand, enhancing their initial comfort and progress. Each morning, our campers participate in a 40-minute swim lesson, led by a certified swim instructor and assisted by group counselors. In the afternoons, they return to the Aquatic Complex for 40 minutes of free swim, fostering camaraderie with fellow campers and group counselors alike.
Social Development
One of the most captivating aspects of the camp experience is the emphasis on nurturing children’s ability to navigate group dynamics. Through this process, they not only develop increased confidence and independence but also acquire essential social skills. As they transition between various activities, the group actively participates in fostering friendships, collaborative efforts, sharing, taking turns, and learning to interact respectfully with both peers and staff. Our dedicated staff plays a pivotal role in empowering Munchkin campers to express themselves using words and guides them in direct communication. Oak Crest offers a nurturing environment where children acquire the emotional and social skills necessary for success in life.
Munchkin Lunch
To meet the nutritional needs of our preschool campers, Munchkins have a dedicated dining arrangement separate from the rest of the camp, with the privilege of enjoying the first lunch period of the day. The Oak Crest Staff is highly attentive to any specific dietary requirements your child may have, ensuring a personalized and accommodating approach to their meals.
