In the 08840 area of New Jersey, Oak Crest offers both a 5 full-day program and a 3 full-day program for young children. Within our Munchkin Division, we maintain an exceptional camper-to-staff ratio, typically ranging from 10 to 12 campers supervised by 3 to 4 staff members. Additionally, each activity is supervised by a specially recruited and trained Munchkin Specialist, dedicated to meeting the needs of 3, 4, and 5-year-olds.
The Munchkin Program emphasizes a comprehensive approach that includes the enhancement of both gross and fine motor skills through engaging athletic and creative activities, the development of swimming skills, and the fostering of social development.
Munchkin Athletics
At Oak Crest, we provide modified versions of various sports activities tailored to our young campers. From mini-soccer and mini-basketball to t-ball and gymnastics, we have adjusted traditional sports to ensure that our youngest campers can experience success. Our athletic specialists, who are specially trained to work with 3, 4, and 5-year-old campers, guide your child in acquiring the fundamental skills of these sports in an age-appropriate and engaging manner.
Creative Arts
Nestled within the 08840 area of New Jersey, Oak Crest’s Creative Arts Center serves as a distinguished hub for nurturing artistic expression. Here, your child will have the opportunity to engage in a diverse array of artistic activities conducted in well-appointed, air-conditioned classrooms, guided by seasoned art instructors.
On a weekly basis, our campers actively participate in an array of activities, encompassing Ceramics, Music, Cooking, Drama, Nature exploration, Dance, Digital Photography, Jewelry Making, Computers, and more. Adding to the enriching experience, each Munchkin group contributes to the annual Showcrest, a grand Dance and Drama Production. This event is far from modest; Showcrest, a long-standing tradition during the 6th week of camp, unfolds in the evening at a local venue, complete with professional-grade sound and lighting, creating a truly remarkable spectacle.
Low Ropes
Climbing and Ropes Courses play significant roles in our Summer Camp adventure at Oak Crest’s 08840, NJ location. We have established a low ropes course with dual objectives: promoting the development of gross motor skills in our Munchkins and providing them with the necessary skills for navigating our Climbing Tower. During their participation in the Low Ropes Course, our young campers engage in climbing, exploration, and swinging, all while being just inches above the ground.
Safety is paramount, and our ropes courses undergo comprehensive inspection and certification by the company responsible for their construction at the start of each season. Furthermore, our certified ropes instructors, who guide the groups through all ropes courses, conduct daily checks to ensure a secure environment for the campers.
Learn to Swim
Swimming is not just a life skill; it’s a crucial proficiency that is best acquired at our newly established, state-of-the-art 12,000 square foot Aquatic Complex located in 08840, NJ. Our dedication to excellence is evident through our annual training of instructors, which incorporates American Red Cross guidelines and over 25 years of practical experience in teaching children to swim. We firmly guarantee that your child will become proficient in swimming at Oak Crest.
For our beginners, our state-of-the-art Aquatic Facility offers two shallow pools, ensuring that even the youngest campers can comfortably stand. This significantly enhances their comfort and initial progress. Each morning, our campers participate in a 40-minute swim lesson, led by a certified swim instructor and assisted by group counselors. In the afternoons, they return to the Aquatic Complex for 40 minutes of free swim, fostering camaraderie with fellow campers and group counselors.
Social Development
One of the most captivating facets of the camp experience is the nurturing of children’s proficiency in navigating group dynamics. This process not only fosters heightened confidence and independence but also actively encourages the development of essential social skills. As campers transition between different activities, the group actively promotes the formation of friendships, collaborative efforts, sharing, taking turns, and learning respectful interactions with both peers and staff. Our dedicated staff is committed to empowering Munchkin campers to express themselves verbally and guide them in effective communication. Oak Crest provides a supportive environment where children acquire the emotional and social skills necessary for success in life.
Munchkin Lunch
To cater to the nutritional needs of our preschool campers, Munchkins have a dedicated dining arrangement that precedes the main lunch period of the day. Our Oak Crest Staff is highly attentive to any dietary requirements your child may have, guaranteeing a personalized and accommodating approach to their meals.
