In the 08852 area of New Jersey, Oak Crest offers both a 5 full-day program and a 3 full-day program. In our Munchkin Division, we maintain a highly favorable camper-to-staff ratio, typically ranging from 10 to 12 campers accompanied by 3 to 4 staff members. Additionally, we have dedicated Munchkin Specialists for each activity who are specially recruited and trained to meet the unique needs of 3, 4, and 5-year-olds.
The Munchkin Program places emphasis on a threefold approach:
1. Enhancing gross and fine motor skills through engaging athletic and creative activities.
2. Acquiring swimming skills.
3. Promoting social development.
Munchkin Athletics
Oak Crest provides modified versions of a variety of sports activities tailored to our youngest campers. These adaptations include mini-soccer, mini-basketball, t-ball, and gymnastics, ensuring that even the youngest participants can experience success. Our athletic specialists are specifically trained to work with children aged 3, 4, and 5, guiding them through the acquisition of fundamental skills in these sports in a manner that is both age-appropriate and engaging.
Creative Arts
Located in 08852, New Jersey, Oak Crest’s Creative Arts Center is a distinguished hub for fostering artistic expression. Here, your child will have the opportunity to engage in a diverse array of artistic activities, all conducted in well-appointed, air-conditioned classrooms under the guidance of experienced art instructors. On a weekly basis, our campers actively participate in a wide range of activities, including ceramics, music, cooking, drama, nature exploration, dance, digital photography, jewelry making, and computer-based projects.
Adding depth to the experience, each Munchkin group contributes to the annual Showcrest, an elaborate dance and drama production. Far from modest, Showcrest is a cherished tradition occurring during the 6th week of camp. It takes place in the evening at a local venue, complete with professional-grade sound and lighting, resulting in a truly remarkable spectacle.
Low Ropes
Climbing and Ropes Courses are integral components of the Summer Camp experience at Oak Crest’s 08852, NJ location. We have established a low ropes course with dual objectives: fostering the development of gross motor skills in our Munchkin campers and equipping them with the necessary skills for navigating our Climbing Tower. During their engagement with the Low Ropes Course, our young participants climb, explore, and swing, all while being just inches above the ground.
To ensure the highest level of safety, our ropes courses undergo comprehensive inspection and certification by the construction company responsible for them at the beginning of each season. Additionally, our certified ropes instructors, who guide the groups through all ropes courses, conduct daily checks to maintain a secure environment for the campers.
Learn to Swim
Swimming transcends being a mere life skill; it represents a vital proficiency that finds its best acquisition in our recently established, state-of-the-art 12,000 square foot Aquatic Complex at Oak Crest’s 08852, NJ location. Our unwavering commitment to excellence is evident in our annual training of instructors, which draws from both American Red Cross guidelines and an extensive reservoir of practical experience spanning over 25 years in teaching children to swim. We provide an unequivocal guarantee that your child will attain mastery in swimming at Oak Crest.
For our novice swimmers, our cutting-edge Aquatic Facility boasts two shallow pools, ensuring that even the youngest campers can comfortably stand, significantly enhancing their comfort level and initial progress. Every morning, our campers participate in a 40-minute swim lesson led by a certified swim instructor, with the support of group counselors. In the afternoons, they return to the Aquatic Complex for 40 minutes of free swim, fostering camaraderie among fellow campers and group counselors alike.
Social Development
A pivotal element of the camp experience centers around the development of children’s proficiency in navigating group dynamics, fostering increased confidence and independence in the process. As they transition between diverse activities, campers actively participate in the cultivation of friendships, collaborative endeavors, sharing, turn-taking, and the acquisition of respectful interactions with both peers and staff members. Our dedicated staff is committed to empowering Munchkin campers in expressing themselves verbally and facilitating direct communication. Munchkin Lunch
To cater to the nutritional needs of our preschool campers, the Munchkins have a distinct dining arrangement separate from the rest of the camp, with the privilege of enjoying the first lunch period of the day. The Oak Crest Staff is vigilant in addressing any dietary requirements your child may have, ensuring a personalized and accommodating approach to their meals.
