In 08853, NJ, Oak Crest offers both 5 full-day and 3 full-day programs. In our Munchkin Division, we maintain a highly favorable camper-to-staff ratio, typically with 10 to 12 campers accompanied by 3 to 4 staff members. Additionally, each activity is supervised by a Munchkin Specialist, who undergoes specialized training to cater to the specific needs of 3, 4, and 5-year-olds.
The Munchkin Program is centered around a threefold approach: it focuses on enhancing gross and fine motor skills through engaging athletic and creative activities, teaching swimming skills, and promoting social development.
Munchkin Athletics
At Oak Crest, we provide modified versions of various sports activities tailored to our young campers. Our offerings include mini-soccer, mini-basketball, t-ball, and gymnastics, all adapted to ensure that our youngest campers can experience success. These activities are conducted under the guidance of our athletic specialists, who undergo specialized training to work effectively with 3, 4, and 5-year-old campers. Your child will enjoy learning the fundamental skills of these sports in a manner that is both age-appropriate and engaging.
Creative Arts
Nestled in 08853, NJ, Oak Crest’s Creative Arts Center distinguishes itself as a premier hub for artistic expression. Your child will have the opportunity to engage in a diverse array of artistic activities in well-appointed, air-conditioned classrooms under the guidance of experienced art instructors. On a weekly basis, our campers actively participate in a wide range of activities, including Ceramics, Music, Cooking, Drama, Nature Exploration, Dance, Digital Photography, Jewelry Making, Computers, and more.
Adding to the depth of this artistic experience, each Munchkin group contributes to the annual Showcrest, a grand Dance and Drama Production. Far from a modest event, Showcrest, which is a tradition during the 6th week of camp, unfolds in the evening at a local venue and features professional-grade sound and lighting, creating a truly remarkable spectacle.
Low Ropes
Climbing and Ropes Courses are integral components of the Summer Camp experience at Oak Crest’s 08853, NJ location. We have established a low ropes course with dual objectives: promoting the development of gross motor skills in our Munchkins and equipping them with the essential skills needed to navigate our Climbing Tower. During their engagement with the Low Ropes Course, our young campers participate in climbing, exploration, and swinging activities, all while being just inches above the ground.
In order to ensure the utmost safety, our ropes courses undergo thorough inspection and certification by the company responsible for their construction at the beginning of each season. Furthermore, our certified ropes instructors, who oversee the groups during all ropes courses, conduct daily checks to maintain a secure environment for the campers.
Learn to Swim
Swimming transcends being a mere life skill; it is a crucial proficiency that finds its best acquisition opportunity in our recently established, cutting-edge 12,000 square foot Aquatic Complex at the 08853, NJ location. Our unwavering commitment to excellence is evident in our annual instructor training program, which draws upon both American Red Cross guidelines and a substantial wealth of practical experience spanning over 25 years in teaching children to swim. We unreservedly assure you that your child will achieve swimming mastery at Oak Crest.
For our beginners, our state-of-the-art Aquatic Facility features two shallow pools, ensuring that even the youngest campers can confidently stand. This significantly enhances their comfort and initial progress. Each morning, our campers engage in a 40-minute swim lesson led by a certified swim instructor, with the assistance of group counselors. In the afternoons, they return to the Aquatic Complex for 40 minutes of free swim, fostering camaraderie with both fellow campers and group counselors.
Social Development
One of the most captivating facets of the camp experience centers around the development of children’s adeptness in managing group dynamics. This journey instills heightened confidence and independence within them. While transitioning between diverse activities, the group actively participates in nurturing friendships, collaborative endeavors, sharing, taking turns, and acquiring the ability to interact respectfully with both peers and staff members.

Munchkin Lunch
In order to meet the nutritional needs of our preschool campers, Munchkins have a designated dining arrangement separate from the rest of the camp, and they enjoy the first lunch period of the day. The Oak Crest Staff is highly attentive to any specific dietary requirements your child may have, ensuring a personalized and accommodating approach to their meals.
