In the 08869 area of New Jersey, Oak Crest offers both a 5 full-day and a 3 full-day program. In our Munchkin Division, we maintain an exceptionally favorable camper-to-staff ratio, typically ranging from 10 to 12 campers per group with 3 to 4 staff members. Furthermore, each activity is overseen by a dedicated Munchkin Specialist, who has been specifically recruited and trained to meet the needs of children aged 3, 4, and 5.
The Munchkin Program emphasizes a comprehensive approach focused on three main aspects: enhancing gross and fine motor skills through engaging athletic and creative activities, developing swimming skills, and fostering social development.
Munchkin Athletics
Oak Crest provides tailored versions of a variety of sports activities, designed to suit the youngest campers. These adaptations include mini-soccer, mini-basketball, t-ball, and gymnastics, all geared towards ensuring that our young campers can experience success. Our athletic specialists, who undergo specialized training to work with children aged 3, 4, and 5, guide your child in learning the foundational skills of these sports in an age-appropriate and engaging manner.
Creative Arts
Located in 08869, NJ, Oak Crest’s Creative Arts Center serves as a distinguished hub for artistic expression. Your child will have the opportunity to engage in a wide array of artistic activities within well-equipped, air-conditioned classrooms under the guidance of experienced art instructors. Weekly, our campers actively participate in activities such as Ceramics, Music, Cooking, Drama, Nature exploration, Dance, Digital Photography, Jewelry Making, Computers, and more.
Adding depth to the experience, each Munchkin group contributes to the annual Showcrest, a grand Dance and Drama Production. This is far from a modest affair; Showcrest, a tradition during the 6th week of camp, unfolds in the evening at a local venue, complete with professional-grade sound and lighting to create a truly remarkable spectacle.
Low Ropes
Climbing and Ropes Courses are integral components of the Summer Camp experience at Oak Crest’s 08869, NJ location. We have developed a low ropes course with dual objectives: promoting the development of gross motor skills in our young campers and equipping them with the necessary skills for navigating our Climbing Tower. During their time on the Low Ropes Course, our young campers engage in climbing, exploring, and swinging, all while being just inches above the ground.
To ensure the utmost safety, our ropes courses undergo comprehensive inspection and certification by the construction company responsible for them at the beginning of each season. Furthermore, our certified ropes instructors, who lead the groups through all ropes courses, conduct daily checks to maintain a secure environment for the campers.
Learn to Swim
Swimming is not just a basic life skill; it’s a crucial proficiency that is best acquired at our newly established, state-of-the-art 12,000 square foot Aquatic Complex located in 08869, NJ. Our unwavering commitment to excellence is demonstrated through our annual instructor training, which adheres to American Red Cross guidelines and draws from our extensive practical experience spanning over 25 years in teaching children to swim. We wholeheartedly guarantee that your child will become proficient in swimming at Oak Crest.
For our beginners, our Aquatic Facility boasts two shallow pools, ensuring that even the youngest campers can comfortably stand, significantly enhancing their comfort and initial progress. Each morning, our campers participate in a 40-minute swim lesson led by a certified swim instructor, with the support of group counselors. In the afternoons, they return to the Aquatic Complex for 40 minutes of free swim, promoting camaraderie with both fellow campers and group counselors.
Social Development
One of the most captivating elements of the camp experience revolves around nurturing children’s proficiency in managing group dynamics. This journey not only enhances their self-assurance but also fosters independence. As they transition between different activities, the group actively participates in promoting friendships, collaborative endeavors, sharing, taking turns, and acquiring the ability to interact respectfully with both peers and staff members. Our committed staff is dedicated to empowering Munchkin campers to express their thoughts through words and assisting them in effective communication. Oak Crest offers a supportive environment where children develop the emotional and social skills that are fundamental for success in life.
Munchkin Lunch
To cater to the specific nutritional needs of our preschool campers, the Munchkin group has a designated dining arrangement, enjoying the first lunch period of the day separately from the rest of the camp. The Oak Crest Staff is highly attentive to any dietary requirements your child may have, ensuring a personalized and accommodating approach to their meals.
