Our Munchkin Division maintains an exceptional camper-to-staff ratio, typically ranging from 10 to 12 campers with 3 to 4 staff members per group. Additionally, each activity is supervised by a specially recruited and trained Munchkin Specialist dedicated to the unique needs of 3, 4, and 5-year-olds.
The Munchkin Program focuses on three key aspects: the development of both gross and fine motor skills through engaging athletic and creative activities, the acquisition of swimming proficiency, and the fostering of social growth.
Munchkin Athletics
Oak Crest provides modified versions of several sports activities tailored to our young campers. These include mini-soccer, mini-basketball, t-ball, and gymnastics. We’ve customized these traditional sports to ensure that our 3, 4, and 5-year-old campers can experience success and enjoyment. Our athletic specialists, who are specially trained to work with this age group, will guide your child in acquiring fundamental skills in these sports in a manner that is both age-appropriate and engaging.
Creative Arts
Nestled in ZIP code 08875, NJ, Oak Crest boasts an exceptional Creative Arts Center, serving as a prominent hub for artistic expression. Here, your child can engage in a diverse array of artistic activities conducted in well-appointed, air-conditioned classrooms under the guidance of experienced art instructors.

This grand Dance and Drama Production, held during the 6th week of camp, is far from modest. Low Ropes
Climbing and Ropes Courses are integral components of the Summer Camp experience at Oak Crest’s location in 08875, NJ. Our program includes a low ropes course designed with dual objectives: promoting the development of gross motor skills in our Munchkins and equipping them with the necessary skills for our Climbing Tower.
During their engagement with the Low Ropes Course, our young campers have the opportunity to climb, explore, and swing, all while remaining just inches above the ground. Safety is of paramount importance, and to ensure this, our ropes courses undergo rigorous inspection and certification by the company responsible for their construction at the beginning of each season. Furthermore, our certified ropes instructors, who guide the groups through all ropes courses, conduct daily checks to maintain a secure environment for the campers.
Learn to Swim
Swimming is not just a basic life skill; it’s a crucial proficiency that is best acquired at Oak Crest’s newly established, cutting-edge 12,000 square foot Aquatic Complex in the 08875, NJ location. Our unwavering commitment to excellence is exemplified by our annual instructor training program, which incorporates American Red Cross guidelines and draws from our extensive practical experience spanning over 25 years in teaching children to swim. For beginners, our state-of-the-art Aquatic Facility is equipped with two shallow pools, ensuring that even the youngest campers can comfortably stand. This significantly enhances their comfort level and initial progress. Each morning, our campers participate in a 40-minute swim lesson led by a certified swim instructor, with the assistance of group counselors. In the afternoons, they return to the Aquatic Complex for 40 minutes of free swim, fostering camaraderie with fellow campers and group counselors.
Social Development
A captivating facet of the camp experience centers on the development of children’s ability to navigate group dynamics, resulting in increased confidence and independence. As campers participate in various activities, the group dynamic actively promotes the cultivation of friendships, collaborative efforts, sharing, turn-taking, and learning respectful interaction with peers and staff. Our devoted staff empowers Munchkin campers to express their thoughts verbally and assists them in effective communication. To cater to the specific nutritional needs of our preschool campers, the Munchkins have a dedicated dining arrangement separate from the rest of the camp, enjoying the first lunch period of the day.
