In the 08876 area of New Jersey, Oak Crest offers both a 5 full-day program and a 3 full-day program. In our Munchkin Division, we maintain an exceptional camper-to-staff ratio, typically ranging from 10 to 12 campers with the support of 3 to 4 staff members. Additionally, each activity is supervised by a dedicated Munchkin Specialist, specially selected and trained to meet the unique needs of children aged 3, 4, and 5.
The Munchkin Program focuses on a threefold approach, which includes enhancing gross and fine motor skills through engaging athletic and creative activities, teaching swimming skills, and fostering social development.
At Oak Crest, we provide modified versions of various sports activities to cater to our youngest campers. These scaled-down adaptations encompass mini-soccer, mini-basketball, t-ball, and gymnastics, allowing even our 3, 4, and 5-year-old campers to experience success. Our athletic specialists are specially trained to work with this age group, ensuring that your child learns the fundamental skills of these sports in a manner that is both age-appropriate and engaging.
Nestled in 08876, New Jersey, Oak Crest’s Creative Arts Center serves as an exceptional hub for fostering artistic expression. Here, your child can engage in a diverse array of artistic activities within well-appointed, air-conditioned classrooms under the guidance of experienced art instructors. Our campers actively participate in a wide range of activities each week, including Ceramics, Music, Cooking, Drama, Nature exploration, Dance, Digital Photography, Jewelry Making, Computers, and more.
What adds to the richness of this experience is the annual Showcrest, a grand Dance and Drama Production in which each Munchkin group contributes. Far from modest, Showcrest is a cherished tradition held during the 6th week of camp. It unfolds in the evening at a local venue, complete with professional-grade sound and lighting, creating a truly remarkable and memorable spectacle.
Climbing and Ropes Courses are integral components of the Summer Camp experience at Oak Crest’s 08876, NJ location. We have established a low ropes course with dual objectives: enhancing the gross motor skills of our young campers and equipping them with the necessary skills to navigate our Climbing Tower. During their time on the Low Ropes Course, our young campers engage in climbing, exploration, and swinging activities, all while remaining just inches above the ground.
To ensure the utmost safety, our ropes courses undergo rigorous inspection and certification by the construction company at the beginning of each season. In addition to this, our certified ropes instructors, who guide the groups through all ropes courses, conduct daily checks to maintain a secure and safe environment for our campers.
Swimming is not just a life skill but also a crucial proficiency that is best acquired at our newly established, state-of-the-art 12,000 square foot Aquatic Complex in the 08876, NJ location. Our unwavering commitment to excellence is reflected in our annual instructor training, which adheres to American Red Cross guidelines and leverages over 25 years of practical experience in teaching children to swim. We can confidently guarantee that your child will master the art of swimming at Oak Crest.
For our beginner swimmers, our cutting-edge Aquatic Facility offers two shallow pools, ensuring even the youngest campers can comfortably stand. This significantly enhances their comfort and initial progress. Every morning, our campers participate in a 40-minute swim lesson led by a certified swim instructor, with the support of group counselors. In the afternoons, they return to the Aquatic Complex for 40 minutes of free swim, fostering camaraderie with both fellow campers and group counselors.
One of the most captivating aspects of the camp experience is the development of children’s capacity to navigate group dynamics. This process plays a pivotal role in enhancing their confidence and independence. As they participate in various activities, the group actively fosters friendships, collaborative efforts, sharing, turn-taking, and respectful interaction with both peers and staff. Our committed staff is dedicated to empowering Munchkin campers to express themselves verbally and facilitating direct communication. Oak Crest offers a nurturing environment where children acquire crucial emotional and social skills that are indispensable for success in life.
To cater to the nutritional needs of our preschool campers, Munchkins have a distinct dining arrangement separate from the rest of the camp. They enjoy the first lunch period of the day, allowing our Oak Crest Staff to be attentive to any dietary requirements your child may have. This ensures a personalized and accommodating approach to their dietary needs.
