In 08884, New Jersey, Oak Crest offers both a 5 full-day program and a 3 full-day program. Within our Munchkin Division, we maintain a highly favorable camper-to-staff ratio, typically ranging from 10 to 12 campers accompanied by 3 to 4 staff members. Furthermore, each activity is supervised by a Munchkin Specialist, carefully recruited and extensively trained to address the unique needs of 3, 4, and 5-year-olds.
The Munchkin Program places a strong emphasis on a threefold approach: the enhancement of gross and fine motor skills through engaging athletic and creative activities, the development of swimming proficiency, and the fostering of social growth.
Munchkin Athletics
At Oak Crest, we provide tailored versions of various sports activities that are perfectly suited for our youngest campers. These activities encompass mini-soccer, mini-basketball, t-ball, and gymnastics, all of which have been modified to ensure that our 3, 4, and 5-year-old campers can experience success. Our dedicated athletic specialists, who possess specialized training in working with this age group, will guide your child in mastering the fundamental skills of these sports in an age-appropriate and engaging manner.
Creative Arts
Located in 08884, New Jersey, Oak Crest’s Creative Arts Center serves as an exceptional hub for nurturing artistic expression. Here, your child will have the opportunity to engage in a wide array of artistic activities within well-appointed, air-conditioned classrooms, led by experienced art instructors. Each week, our campers actively participate in a diverse range of activities including Ceramics, Music, Cooking, Drama, Nature exploration, Dance, Digital Photography, Jewelry Making, Computers, and more.
Enhancing the richness of this experience, each Munchkin group contributes to the annual Showcrest, a grand Dance and Drama Production. This event is far from modest; Showcrest, a tradition held during the 6th week of camp, unfolds in the evening at a local venue, complete with professional-grade sound and lighting, creating a truly remarkable spectacle.
Low Ropes
Climbing and Ropes Courses play integral roles in the Summer Camp adventure at Oak Crest’s 08884, NJ location. We have established a low ropes course with dual objectives: promoting the development of gross motor skills among our Munchkins and imparting the necessary skills for navigating our Climbing Tower. During their engagement with the Low Ropes Course, our young campers have the opportunity to climb, explore, and swing, all while remaining just inches above the ground.
To ensure the highest level of safety, our ropes courses undergo comprehensive inspection and certification by the company responsible for their construction at the outset of each season. Furthermore, our certified ropes instructors, who guide the groups through all ropes courses, conduct daily checks to maintain a secure environment for the campers.
Learn to Swim
Swimming is not just a basic life skill; it represents an essential proficiency, and we believe it’s best acquired at our newly established, state-of-the-art 12,000 square foot Aquatic Complex in the 08884, NJ location. Our commitment to excellence is demonstrated through our annual training of instructors, adhering to American Red Cross guidelines and drawing from over 25 years of practical experience in teaching children to swim. We wholeheartedly guarantee that your child will become a proficient swimmer at Oak Crest.
For our beginner swimmers, our Aquatic Facility boasts two shallow pools, ensuring that even the youngest campers can comfortably stand, significantly enhancing their comfort level and initial progress. Each morning, our campers participate in a 40-minute swim lesson, led by a certified swim instructor with support from group counselors. In the afternoons, they return to the Aquatic Complex for 40 minutes of free swim, fostering camaraderie with fellow campers and group counselors.
Social Development
The camp experience offers a captivating opportunity for children to develop their ability to navigate group dynamics, fostering heightened confidence and independence in the process. As they transition between various activities, the group actively participates in cultivating friendships, collaborative efforts, sharing, taking turns, and learning to interact respectfully with both peers and staff. Our dedicated staff is committed to empowering Munchkin campers to express their thoughts through words and guiding them in direct communication. Oak Crest creates a nurturing environment where children acquire the emotional and social skills that are essential for success in life.
Munchkin Lunch
To meet the specific nutritional needs of our preschool campers, the Munchkins have a distinct dining arrangement separate from the rest of the camp, with the privilege of enjoying the first lunch period of the day. Our Oak Crest Staff is highly attentive to any dietary requirements your child may have, guaranteeing a personalized and accommodating approach to their meals.
