3-5 Year Olds (Munchkins) Summer Camp near 08889
In the 08889 area of New Jersey, Oak Crest offers two programs: a 5 full-day program and a 3 full-day program. In our Munchkin Division, we maintain an excellent camper-to-staff ratio, typically ranging from 10 to 12 campers per 3 to 4 staff members. Each activity is overseen by a specially recruited and trained Munchkin Specialist, dedicated to the specific needs of 3, 4, and 5-year-olds.
The Munchkin Program focuses on three key areas: enhancing gross and fine motor skills through engaging athletic and creative activities, teaching swimming skills, and fostering social development.
Munchkin Athletics
At Oak Crest, we provide modified versions of several sports activities tailored to our youngest campers. These adaptations include mini-soccer, mini-basketball, t-ball, and gymnastics, designed to facilitate success for children aged 3, 4, and 5. Our athletic specialists, who possess specialized training in working with this age group, will guide your child in acquiring fundamental skills in these sports through age-appropriate and engaging methods.
Creative Arts
Located in 08889, New Jersey, Oak Crest’s Creative Arts Center serves as an exceptional hub for fostering artistic expression. Here, your child will have the opportunity to engage in a diverse range of artistic activities within well-appointed, air-conditioned classrooms, under the guidance of experienced art instructors. Our campers actively participate in a weekly rotation of activities that encompass Ceramics, Music, Cooking, Drama, Nature exploration, Dance, Digital Photography, Jewelry Making, Computers, and more.
In addition to these enriching experiences, each Munchkin group contributes to the annual Showcrest event, a grand production combining dance and drama. This event is far from modest; Showcrest, a cherished tradition during the 6th week of camp, unfolds in the evening at a local venue and features professional-grade sound and lighting, creating a truly remarkable spectacle.
Low Ropes
Climbing and Ropes Courses play a vital role in the Summer Camp experience. In Oak Crest’s 08889, NJ location, we’ve established a low ropes course with dual objectives: developing gross motor skills in our young campers and equipping them with the necessary skills to navigate our Climbing Tower. During their time at the Low Ropes Course, our campers engage in climbing, exploration, and swinging, all while remaining just inches above the ground.
Safety is our utmost priority. Our ropes courses undergo rigorous inspection and certification by the company responsible for their construction at the start of each season. Additionally, our certified ropes instructors, who guide the groups through these courses, conduct daily checks to maintain a secure environment for the campers.
Learn to Swim
Swimming is not merely a life skill; it is an essential proficiency that is best acquired at our newly established, state-of-the-art 12,000 square foot Aquatic Complex in the 08889, NJ location. Our unwavering commitment to excellence is reflected in our annual training of instructors, adhering to American Red Cross guidelines, and leveraging over 25 years of practical experience in teaching children to swim. We confidently guarantee that your child will become a proficient swimmer at Oak Crest.
For our beginners, our Aquatic Facility boasts two shallow pools, ensuring that even the youngest campers can comfortably stand, enhancing their comfort level and initial progress. Each morning, certified swim instructors, assisted by group counselors, lead our campers in a 40-minute swim lesson. In the afternoons, they return to the Aquatic Complex for 40 minutes of free swim, fostering camaraderie with fellow campers and group counselors.
Social Development
One of the most captivating aspects of the camp experience centers on nurturing children’s ability to navigate group dynamics, which in turn fosters enhanced confidence and independence. While transitioning between various activities, our campers actively participate in building friendships, collaborative efforts, sharing, taking turns, and learning to interact respectfully with both peers and staff.
Our dedicated staff plays a pivotal role in empowering Munchkin campers to express their thoughts using words and guiding them in direct communication. Oak Crest creates a nurturing environment where children acquire crucial emotional and social skills that are essential for success in life.
Munchkin Lunch
To meet the nutritional needs of our preschool campers, the Munchkins have a dedicated dining arrangement, enjoying the first lunch period of the day separately from the rest of the camp. Our Oak Crest staff is highly attentive to any dietary requirements your child may have, ensuring a personalized and accommodating approach to their meals.
