In 08890, New Jersey, Oak Crest offers both a 5 full-day program and a 3 full-day program within our Munchkin Division. Our Munchkin Division maintains an exceptionally favorable camper-to-staff ratio, typically ranging from 10 to 12 campers accompanied by 3 to 4 staff members. Additionally, we assign a Munchkin Specialist to oversee each activity, ensuring that they are specially recruited and trained to meet the specific needs of children aged 3, 4, and 5.
The Munchkin Program places significant emphasis on a threefold approach:
1. Enhancing gross and fine motor skills through engaging athletic and creative activities.
2. Teaching valuable swimming skills.
3. Promoting social development among our young campers.
Munchkin Athletics
Oak Crest provides tailored versions of various sports activities for our young campers. From mini-soccer and mini-basketball to t-ball and gymnastics, we have modified traditional sports to ensure that our youngest participants can experience success. Our athletic specialists, who are specifically trained to work with 3, 4, and 5-year-olds, guide your child in learning the fundamental skills of these sports in an age-appropriate and engaging manner.
Creative Arts
Nestled in 08890, New Jersey, Oak Crest’s Creative Arts Center serves as an exceptional hub for fostering artistic expression. Here, your child will have the unique opportunity to engage in a wide array of artistic endeavors within well-appointed, air-conditioned classrooms under the guidance of experienced art instructors.
Our campers actively participate in a diverse range of activities on a weekly basis, including Ceramics, Music, Cooking, Drama, Nature exploration, Dance, Digital Photography, Jewelry Making, Computers, and more.
Adding depth to the overall experience, each Munchkin group contributes to the annual Showcrest, a grand Dance and Drama Production. This is no ordinary event; Showcrest, a cherished tradition during the 6th week of camp, unfolds in the evening at a local venue, complete with professional-grade sound and lighting, creating a truly remarkable spectacle.
Low Ropes
The Summer Camp adventure at Oak Crest’s 08890, New Jersey location features essential components in the form of Climbing and Ropes Courses. Here, we’ve established a low ropes course with dual objectives: facilitating the development of gross motor skills among our young campers and equipping them with the necessary skills to navigate our Climbing Tower. Engaging in the Low Ropes Course, our campers have the opportunity to climb, explore, and swing, all while being just inches above the ground.
Safety is our utmost priority. To ensure the well-being of our campers, our ropes courses undergo comprehensive inspection and certification by the construction company at the beginning of each season. Furthermore, our certified ropes instructors, who guide the groups through all ropes courses, conduct daily checks to maintain a secure and safe environment for our campers.
Learn to Swim
Swimming is not just a valuable life skill; it represents an essential proficiency that is best acquired at Oak Crest’s newly established, cutting-edge 12,000 square foot Aquatic Complex in the 08890, New Jersey location. Our unwavering commitment to excellence is demonstrated through our annual instructor training, which adheres to American Red Cross guidelines and draws from our extensive practical experience spanning over 25 years in teaching children how to swim. We confidently assure you that your child will achieve mastery in the art of swimming at Oak Crest.
For our beginners, our state-of-the-art Aquatic Facility boasts two shallow pools, ensuring that even the youngest campers can confidently stand, thus enhancing their comfort and initial progress. Every morning, our campers participate in a 40-minute swim lesson led by a certified swim instructor, with assistance from group counselors. In the afternoons, they return to the Aquatic Complex for 40 minutes of free swim, which fosters camaraderie among fellow campers and group counselors.
Social Development
One of the most captivating facets of the camp experience centers around nurturing children’s adeptness in navigating group dynamics. This journey facilitates the development of heightened confidence and independence among the campers. As they transition between diverse activities, the group actively participates in cultivating friendships, collaborative efforts, sharing, taking turns, and acquiring the ability to interact respectfully with both their peers and the staff. Our dedicated team empowers Munchkin campers to express their thoughts using words and assists them in mastering direct communication. Oak Crest offers a nurturing environment wherein children acquire the emotional and social skills that are vital for success in life.
Munchkin Lunch
In order to meet the specific nutritional needs of our preschool campers, the Munchkins have a dedicated dining arrangement that precedes the rest of the camp’s lunch periods. Our Oak Crest Staff is highly attentive to any dietary requirements your child may have, ensuring a personalized and accommodating approach to their meals.
