In the 08899 area of New Jersey, Oak Crest offers both 5 full-day and 3 full-day program options. In our Munchkin Division, we maintain an exceptional camper-to-staff ratio, typically ranging from 10 to 12 campers per 3 to 4 staff members. Furthermore, each activity is overseen by a Munchkin Specialist, who is specially recruited and trained to meet the specific needs of children aged 3, 4, and 5.
The Munchkin Program is designed with a threefold approach in mind. It focuses on enhancing gross and fine motor skills through engaging athletic and creative activities, teaching valuable swimming skills, and promoting social development among young campers.
Munchkin Athletics
At Oak Crest, we provide modified versions of various sports activities tailored to our youngest campers. These include mini-soccer, mini-basketball, t-ball, and gymnastics. We’ve adapted traditional sports to ensure that children aged 3, 4, and 5 can experience success and develop fundamental skills. Our athletic specialists are specifically trained to work with this age group, guiding your child in an age-appropriate and engaging manner as they explore these sports.
Creative Arts
Located in 08899, NJ, Oak Crest’s Creative Arts Center serves as an exceptional hub for fostering artistic expression. Children at our camp can engage in a wide array of artistic activities within well-appointed, air-conditioned classrooms, under the guidance of experienced art instructors. Weekly, our campers actively participate in a diverse range of activities, including Ceramics, Music, Cooking, Drama, Nature exploration, Dance, Digital Photography, Jewelry Making, Computers, and more.
In addition to these activities, each Munchkin group contributes to the annual Showcrest, a grand Dance and Drama Production that adds richness to the camp experience. This event, held during the 6th week of camp, takes place in the evening at a local venue and includes professional-grade sound and lighting, creating a truly remarkable spectacle.
Low Ropes
Climbing and Ropes Courses are integral components of the Summer Camp experience at Oak Crest’s 08899, NJ location. We’ve established a low ropes course with dual objectives: enhancing gross motor skills development in our Munchkin campers and equipping them with essential skills needed for our Climbing Tower. During the Low Ropes Course, our young campers engage in climbing, exploration, and swinging activities, all while being just inches above the ground.
Safety is of utmost importance, and our ropes courses undergo rigorous inspection and certification by the construction company at the beginning of each season. Furthermore, our certified ropes instructors, responsible for guiding groups through the ropes courses, conduct daily checks to ensure a secure environment for the campers.
Learn to Swim
Swimming transcends being a mere life skill; it represents a fundamental proficiency best cultivated at our recently established, cutting-edge 12,000 square foot Aquatic Complex located in 08899, NJ. Our unwavering commitment to excellence is underscored by our annual training of instructors, which draws upon both American Red Cross guidelines and over 25 years of practical experience in teaching children to swim. We unequivocally guarantee that your child will master the art of swimming at Oak Crest.
For our beginner swimmers, our state-of-the-art Aquatic Facility boasts two shallow pools, designed to ensure that even the youngest campers can comfortably stand. This not only enhances their comfort level but also facilitates their initial progress. Each morning, our campers participate in a 40-minute swim lesson led by a certified swim instructor, with assistance from group counselors. In the afternoons, they return to the Aquatic Complex for 40 minutes of free swim, fostering camaraderie with both fellow campers and group counselors.
Social Development
One of the most captivating elements of the camp experience centers on nurturing children’s aptitude for navigating group dynamics. This transformative process fosters increased self-assuredness and independence in campers. As they transition between different activities, the group actively participates in fostering friendships, collaborative endeavors, sharing, taking turns, and acquiring the ability to interact respectfully with both peers and staff members. Our devoted staff plays a pivotal role in empowering Munchkin campers to express their thoughts verbally and facilitates direct communication. Oak Crest offers a supportive environment where children acquire the emotional and social skills crucial for achieving success in life.
Munchkin Lunch
To cater to the specific nutritional needs of our preschool campers, the Munchkins have a dedicated dining arrangement, enjoying the first lunch period of the day separate from the rest of the camp. Our Oak Crest Staff is vigilant in addressing any dietary requirements your child may have, ensuring a personalized and accommodating approach to their meals.
