In 08902, New Jersey, Oak Crest offers both a 5 full-day program and a 3 full-day program for young children. In our Munchkin Division, we maintain an exceptional camper-to-staff ratio, typically ranging from 10 to 12 campers per group, supported by 3 to 4 staff members. Additionally, each activity is overseen by a specialized Munchkin Specialist, who is specially recruited and trained to meet the unique needs of children aged 3, 4, and 5 years old.
The Munchkin Program is designed with a threefold focus: firstly, it aims to enhance gross and fine motor skills through engaging athletic and creative activities. Secondly, it emphasizes the acquisition of swimming skills, and thirdly, it promotes social development in our young campers.
Munchkin Athletics
At Oak Crest, we provide tailored versions of various sports activities that are specifically designed for our youngest campers. These scaled-down adaptations encompass mini-soccer, mini-basketball, t-ball, and gymnastics. Our approach ensures that even the youngest participants can experience success in these sports.
Our athletic specialists are extensively trained to work with children aged 3, 4, and 5 years old. Under their guidance, your child will have the opportunity to learn the fundamental skills of these sports in an age-appropriate and engaging manner, fostering both skill development and enjoyment.
Creative Arts
Nestled in the 08902 area of New Jersey, Oak Crest’s Creative Arts Center stands as a remarkable hub for nurturing artistic expression. Here, your child will have the opportunity to engage in a diverse array of artistic activities within well-appointed, air-conditioned classrooms, under the guidance of experienced art instructors.
Our campers actively participate in a wide range of weekly activities, including Ceramics, Music, Cooking, Drama, Nature exploration, Dance, Digital Photography, Jewelry Making, Computers, and more, fostering their creativity and artistic abilities.
What adds depth to this experience is that each Munchkin group contributes to the annual Showcrest, a grand Dance and Drama Production. This event, far from modest, takes place during the 6th week of camp in the evening at a local venue, featuring professional-grade sound and lighting to create a truly remarkable and memorable spectacle.
Low Ropes
Climbing and Ropes Courses play pivotal roles in the Summer Camp adventure at our Oak Crest location in 08902, New Jersey. We have designed a low ropes course with a dual purpose: to enhance the development of gross motor skills in our Munchkin campers and to equip them with the essential skills necessary for navigating our Climbing Tower.
During their time on the Low Ropes Course, our young campers engage in activities such as climbing, exploration, and swinging, all while staying just inches above the ground. We prioritize safety by subjecting our ropes courses to thorough inspection and certification by the responsible construction company at the start of each season. Furthermore, our certified ropes instructors, who lead the groups through these courses, conduct daily checks to ensure a secure environment for the campers.
Learn to Swim
Swimming is not just a life skill; it’s a crucial proficiency that is best acquired at our newly established, state-of-the-art 12,000 square foot Aquatic Complex in the 08902, New Jersey location. Our unwavering commitment to excellence is evident in our annual training of instructors, which draws from both American Red Cross guidelines and over 25 years of practical experience in teaching children to swim. We confidently guarantee that your child will become proficient in swimming at Oak Crest.
For our beginners, our Aquatic Facility features two shallow pools, ensuring that even the youngest campers can stand comfortably. This significantly enhances their comfort level and initial progress. Every morning, our campers partake in a 40-minute swim lesson led by a certified swim instructor, with the assistance of group counselors. In the afternoons, they return to the Aquatic Complex for 40 minutes of free swim, fostering camaraderie with fellow campers and group counselors alike.
Social Development
A captivating facet of the camp experience at Oak Crest is the development of children’s capacity to navigate group dynamics, leading to enhanced confidence and independence. As campers engage in various activities, they actively participate in building friendships, collaborating, sharing, taking turns, and learning respectful interaction with both peers and staff.

Munchkin Lunch
In order to meet the nutritional needs of our preschool campers, Munchkins have a designated dining arrangement separate from the rest of the camp, and they enjoy the first lunch period of the day. At Oak Crest, our staff is highly attentive to any specific dietary requirements your child may have, offering a personalized and accommodating approach to ensure their well-being.
