In the 08903 area of New Jersey, Oak Crest offers two program options: a 5-day and a 3-day program for young children in our Munchkin Division. Our camp maintains an exceptionally favorable camper-to-staff ratio, typically ranging from 10 to 12 campers per 3 to 4 staff members. Furthermore, we ensure that each activity is supervised by a Munchkin Specialist who has been carefully selected and trained to meet the unique needs of 3, 4, and 5-year-olds.
The Munchkin Program adopts a comprehensive approach, focusing on three key aspects: the development of both gross and fine motor skills through engaging athletic and creative activities, the acquisition of swimming proficiency, and the fostering of social development.
Munchkin Athletics
At Oak Crest, we provide modified versions of a variety of sports activities tailored to our youngest campers. These adaptations include mini-soccer, mini-basketball, t-ball, and gymnastics, all designed to facilitate success for 3, 4, and 5-year-olds. Our athletic specialists, with specialized training in working with this age group, guide your child in acquiring fundamental sports skills in an age-appropriate and engaging manner.
Creative Arts
Located in 08903, New Jersey, Oak Crest’s Creative Arts Center serves as a distinguished hub for nurturing artistic expression. Your child will have the unique opportunity to engage in a diverse array of artistic activities within well-appointed, air-conditioned classrooms under the guidance of experienced art instructors. Our campers actively participate in various activities on a weekly basis, including Ceramics, Music, Cooking, Drama, Nature exploration, Dance, Digital Photography, Jewelry Making, Computers, and more.
Adding to the richness of this experience, each Munchkin group contributes to the annual Showcrest, a grand Dance and Drama Production. This is far from an ordinary event; Showcrest, a long-standing tradition during the 6th week of camp, unfolds in the evening at a local venue, featuring professional-grade sound and lighting to create a truly remarkable spectacle.
Low Ropes
Climbing and Ropes Courses are integral components of the Summer Camp experience at Oak Crest’s 08903, NJ location. Our camp features a low ropes course designed with dual objectives: promoting the development of gross motor skills among our Munchkin campers and equipping them with essential skills necessary for navigating our Climbing Tower. During their time on the Low Ropes Course, our young campers engage in climbing, exploration, and swinging activities, all while remaining just inches above the ground.
We prioritize the safety of our campers by subjecting our ropes courses to thorough inspection and certification by the company responsible for their construction at the start of each season. In addition, our certified ropes instructors, who lead the groups through all ropes courses, conduct daily checks to ensure a secure environment for our campers.
Learn to Swim
Swimming is not just a life skill; it’s a vital proficiency that is best cultivated at our newly established, state-of-the-art 12,000 square foot Aquatic Complex located in 08903, NJ. Our unwavering commitment to excellence is exemplified by our annual instructor training, which draws from American Red Cross guidelines and more than 25 years of practical experience in teaching children to swim. We wholeheartedly guarantee that your child will attain mastery in swimming at Oak Crest.
For our beginner swimmers, our cutting-edge Aquatic Facility boasts two shallow pools, ensuring that even the youngest campers can comfortably stand. This significantly enhances their comfort level and initial progress. Every morning, our campers partake in a 40-minute swim lesson led by a certified swim instructor, with assistance from group counselors. In the afternoons, they return to the Aquatic Complex for 40 minutes of free swim, fostering camaraderie with both fellow campers and group counselors.
Social Development
One of the most captivating facets of the camp experience revolves around nurturing children’s adeptness in navigating group dynamics. This journey facilitates the development of heightened confidence and independence among them. As they transition between diverse activities, the group actively participates in the cultivation of friendships, collaborative efforts, sharing, taking turns, and acquiring the ability to interact respectfully with both peers and staff.
Our dedicated staff plays a pivotal role in empowering Munchkin campers to articulate their thoughts effectively through verbal communication, guiding them towards direct expression. Munchkin Lunch
To cater to the specific nutritional needs of our preschool campers, Munchkins have a dedicated dining arrangement that grants them the privilege of enjoying the first lunch period of the day, separate from the rest of the camp. Our Oak Crest Staff is highly attentive to any dietary requirements your child may have, guaranteeing a personalized and accommodating approach to their meals.
