3-5 Year Olds (Munchkins) Summer Camp near Bridgewater
In Bridgewater, NJ, Oak Crest offers both a 5 full-day program and a 3 full-day program for young children. Our Munchkin Division boasts an exceptional camper-to-staff ratio, typically ranging from 10 to 12 campers per 3 to 4 staff members. Each activity is closely supervised by a Munchkin Specialist, extensively trained to cater to the unique needs of 3, 4, and 5-year-olds.
The Munchkin Program adopts a comprehensive approach, focusing on three key areas: the development of gross and fine motor skills through engaging athletic and creative activities, the acquisition of swimming skills, and the promotion of social development.
Munchkin Athletics
At Oak Crest, we provide tailored versions of diverse sports activities, offering scaled-down adaptations of traditional sports to ensure the success of our youngest campers. From mini-soccer and mini-basketball to t-ball and gymnastics, our athletic specialists are specifically trained to work with 3, 4, and 5-year-old campers. Under their guidance, your child will delight in learning the fundamental skills of these sports in an age-appropriate and engaging manner.
Creative Arts
Nestled in Bridgewater, NJ, Oak Crest’s Creative Arts Center serves as an exceptional hub for artistic expression. Here, your child will have the opportunity to engage in a diverse array of artistic activities within well-appointed, air-conditioned classrooms, under the guidance of experienced art instructors. Each week, our campers actively participate in a wide range of activities, including Ceramics, Music, Cooking, Drama, Nature exploration, Dance, Digital Photography, Jewelry Making, Computers, and more.
Adding to the depth of this artistic experience, every Munchkin group contributes to the annual Showcrest, a grand Dance and Drama Production. Far from modest, Showcrest, which takes place during the 6th week of camp, unfolds in the evening at a local venue, complete with professional-grade sound and lighting, creating a truly remarkable and unforgettable spectacle.
Low Ropes
Climbing and Ropes Courses play a significant role in the Summer Camp adventure at Oak Crest in Bridgewater, NJ. Our location features a low ropes course designed with dual objectives: promoting the development of gross motor skills in our Munchkins and providing them with the essential skills necessary to tackle our Climbing Tower. During their time on the Low Ropes Course, our young campers engage in climbing, exploration, and swinging activities, all conducted just inches above the ground.
To ensure the utmost safety, our ropes courses undergo comprehensive inspection and certification by the company responsible for their construction at the start of each season. Furthermore, our certified ropes instructors, who guide the groups through all ropes courses, conduct daily checks to maintain a secure and enjoyable environment for the campers.
Learn to Swim
Swimming is more than just a life skill; it’s a vital proficiency that is best cultivated at our newly established, state-of-the-art 12,000 square foot Aquatic Complex in Bridgewater, NJ. Our unwavering commitment to excellence is demonstrated through our annual training of instructors, drawing from American Red Cross guidelines and a rich practical experience spanning over 25 years in teaching children to swim. We wholeheartedly guarantee that your child will master the art of swimming at Oak Crest.
For our beginners, our cutting-edge Aquatic Facility features two shallow pools, designed to ensure even the youngest campers can comfortably stand. This enhances their comfort level and initial progress significantly. Each morning, our campers participate in a 40-minute swim lesson led by a certified swim instructor, with support from group counselors. In the afternoons, they return to the Aquatic Complex for 40 minutes of free swim, promoting camaraderie with fellow campers and group counselors alike.
Social Development
One of the most captivating aspects of the camp experience is the cultivation of children’s proficiency in navigating group dynamics. This transformative process leads to the development of heightened confidence and independence. While transitioning between various activities, our campers actively participate in fostering friendships, collaborative efforts, sharing, taking turns, and learning to interact respectfully with both peers and staff.
Our dedicated staff plays a pivotal role in empowering Munchkin campers to express their thoughts using words and guiding them in effective communication. Oak Crest offers a nurturing environment where children acquire the emotional and social skills essential for success in life.
Munchkin Lunch
To meet the nutritional needs of our preschool campers, Munchkins have a dedicated dining arrangement separate from the rest of the camp. They enjoy the first lunch period of the day, allowing our Oak Crest Staff to be attentive to any specific dietary requirements your child may have. We take a personalized and accommodating approach to ensure their well-being.
