3-5 Year Olds (Munchkins) Summer Camp near East Brunswick
In East Brunswick, NJ, Oak Crest offers both 5 full-day and 3 full-day programs in our Munchkin Division. We maintain an exceptional camper-to-staff ratio, typically ranging from 10 to 12 campers with 3 to 4 staff members dedicated to each group. Additionally, we have specialized Munchkin Specialists overseeing each activity, who are specially trained to cater to the needs of 3, 4, and 5-year-olds.
Our Munchkin Program focuses on a threefold approach, including enhancing gross and fine motor skills through engaging athletic and creative activities, teaching swimming skills, and fostering social development.
Munchkin Athletics
At Oak Crest, we provide modified versions of various sports activities tailored for our youngest campers. From mini-soccer and mini-basketball to t-ball and gymnastics, we have customized traditional sports to ensure that children aged 3, 4, and 5 can experience success and enjoyment. Our athletic specialists are specifically trained to work with this age group, guiding your child in learning the fundamental skills of these sports in a developmentally appropriate and engaging manner.
Creative Arts
Located in East Brunswick, NJ, Oak Crest’s Creative Arts Center is a distinguished hub for artistic expression. Your child will have the opportunity to engage in a wide array of artistic activities within well-appointed, air-conditioned classrooms under the guidance of experienced art instructors. Our campers actively participate in diverse activities such as Ceramics, Music, Cooking, Drama, Nature exploration, Dance, Digital Photography, Jewelry Making, Computers, and more on a weekly basis.
What makes our program even more enriching is that each Munchkin group contributes to the annual Showcrest, a grand Dance and Drama Production. This is far from a modest event; Showcrest, a cherished tradition during the 6th week of camp, unfolds in the evening at a local venue, featuring professional-grade sound and lighting to create a truly remarkable spectacle.
Low Ropes
At Oak Crest’s East Brunswick, NJ location, Climbing and Ropes Courses are integral components of the Summer Camp adventure. We have established a low ropes course with dual objectives: promoting the development of gross motor skills in our Munchkins and equipping them with essential skills for our Climbing Tower. During the Low Ropes Course experience, our young campers engage in climbing, exploration, and swinging, all while being just inches above the ground.
Safety is paramount, and our ropes courses undergo thorough inspection and certification by the company responsible for their construction at the start of each season. In addition, our certified ropes instructors, who guide the groups through all ropes courses, conduct daily checks to maintain a secure environment for the campers.
Learn to Swim
Swimming at Oak Crest’s East Brunswick, NJ location is not just a life skill but a crucial proficiency best acquired in our newly established, state-of-the-art 12,000 square foot Aquatic Complex. We are deeply committed to excellence, evident through our annual training of instructors, following American Red Cross guidelines, and drawing from over 25 years of practical experience in teaching children to swim. We wholeheartedly guarantee that your child will master the art of swimming at Oak Crest.
For beginners, our cutting-edge Aquatic Facility features two shallow pools, ensuring that even the youngest campers can comfortably stand. This significantly enhances their comfort level and initial progress. Each morning, certified swim instructors, assisted by group counselors, lead our campers in a 40-minute swim lesson. In the afternoons, they return to the Aquatic Complex for 40 minutes of free swim, fostering camaraderie with fellow campers and group counselors alike.
Social Development
At Oak Crest, the most captivating aspect of the camp experience is the cultivation of children’s ability to navigate group dynamics. Through this process, they develop increased confidence and independence. As they participate in various activities, the group actively fosters friendships, collaborates, shares, takes turns, and learns to interact respectfully with both peers and staff. Our dedicated staff empowers Munchkin campers to express their thoughts using words and guides them in direct communication. Oak Crest provides a nurturing environment where children acquire the emotional and social skills necessary for success in life.
Munchkin Lunch
To cater to the nutritional needs of our preschool campers, Munchkins have a dedicated dining arrangement, enjoying the first lunch period of the day separate from the rest of the camp. The Oak Crest Staff is vigilant in addressing any dietary requirements your child may have, providing a personalized and accommodating approach to their meals.
