In Edison, New Jersey, Oak Crest offers two distinct programs: a 5 full-day program and a 3 full-day program. Within our Munchkin Division, we maintain an exceptionally low camper-to-staff ratio, typically ranging from 10 to 12 campers for every 3 to 4 staff members. Furthermore, each activity is diligently supervised by a specialized Munchkin Specialist, who undergoes rigorous training to cater specifically to the needs of 3, 4, and 5-year-olds.
The Munchkin Program focuses on a comprehensive approach, emphasizing the enhancement of both gross and fine motor skills through engaging athletic and creative activities, the development of swimming skills, and the promotion of crucial social development milestones.
At Oak Crest, we provide modified versions of various sports activities tailored to the unique needs of our youngest campers. From mini-soccer and mini-basketball to t-ball and gymnastics, we’ve adapted traditional sports to ensure that even our 3, 4, and 5-year-old campers can experience success. Our athletic specialists are extensively trained to work with this age group, guiding your child in mastering the fundamental skills of these sports in a manner that is both age-appropriate and engaging.

As an added highlight, each Munchkin group contributes to our annual Showcrest, a grand Dance and Drama Production that is far from modest. The Summer Camp adventure at Oak Crest’s Edison, NJ location features integral components in the form of Climbing and Ropes Courses. We have specifically designed a low ropes course with dual objectives: fostering the development of gross motor skills in our Munchkins and equipping them with the essential skills required to navigate our Climbing Tower. During their engagement with the Low Ropes Course, our young campers have the opportunity to climb, explore, and swing, all while remaining just inches above the ground.
Ensuring the utmost safety of our campers is paramount. To achieve this, our ropes courses undergo thorough inspection and certification by the company responsible for their construction at the beginning of each season. Additionally, our certified ropes instructors, who guide the groups through all ropes courses, conduct daily checks to maintain a secure environment for the campers.
Swimming is more than just a life skill; it’s a crucial proficiency, and at our Edison, NJ location, it’s best acquired in our newly established, cutting-edge 12,000 square foot Aquatic Complex. Our unwavering commitment to excellence is evident in our annual training of instructors, which combines American Red Cross guidelines with over 25 years of practical experience in teaching children to swim. We guarantee that your child will master the art of swimming at Oak Crest.
For our beginners, our state-of-the-art Aquatic Facility features two shallow pools, ensuring even the youngest campers can comfortably stand, significantly enhancing their comfort level and initial progress. Every morning, our campers participate in a 40-minute swim lesson led by a certified swim instructor, with the support of group counselors. In the afternoons, they return to the Aquatic Complex for 40 minutes of free swim, fostering camaraderie with fellow campers and group counselors alike.
One of the most captivating facets of the camp experience is the cultivation of children’s proficiency in navigating group dynamics. This process not only fosters heightened confidence and independence but also enables them to develop crucial social skills. As they transition between various activities, our campers actively engage in building friendships, collaborating, sharing, taking turns, and learning to interact respectfully with both their peers and our dedicated staff.
Our committed team empowers Munchkin campers to express themselves using words and guides them in direct communication. Oak Crest provides a nurturing environment where children acquire the emotional and social skills essential for success in life.
To meet the specific nutritional needs of our preschool campers, the Munchkins have a separate dining arrangement, enjoying the first lunch period of the day. Our Oak Crest Staff is highly attentive to any dietary requirements your child may have, ensuring a personalized and accommodating approach to their meals.
