3-5 Year Olds (Munchkins) Summer Camp near Flemington
In Flemington, New Jersey, Oak Crest offers two program options: a 5 full-day program and a 3 full-day program. In our Munchkin Division, we maintain an exceptional camper-to-staff ratio, typically ranging from 10 to 12 campers accompanied by 3 to 4 staff members. Additionally, each activity is supervised by a specialized Munchkin Specialist who has been specifically recruited and trained to meet the unique needs of 3, 4, and 5-year-olds.
The Munchkin Program follows a three-pronged approach, focusing on:
1. Enhancing gross and fine motor skills through engaging athletic and creative activities.
2. Teaching swimming skills.
3. Promoting social development.
Munchkin Athletics
Oak Crest provides modified versions of various sports activities tailored to our youngest campers. These activities encompass mini-soccer, mini-basketball, t-ball, and gymnastics, all thoughtfully adapted to facilitate success for 3, 4, and 5-year-olds. Our athletic specialists are expertly trained to work with this age group, ensuring that your child learns the fundamental skills of these sports in an engaging and age-appropriate manner.
Creative Arts
Nestled in Flemington, New Jersey, Oak Crest’s Creative Arts Center serves as a distinguished hub for artistic expression. Here, your child can engage in a diverse array of creative activities, all conducted in well-appointed, air-conditioned classrooms under the guidance of experienced art instructors. On a weekly basis, our campers actively participate in a wide range of activities, including Ceramics, Music, Cooking, Drama, Nature exploration, Dance, Digital Photography, Jewelry Making, Computers, and more.
To enrich the overall experience, each Munchkin group contributes to the annual Showcrest, a grand Dance and Drama Production. This event, taking place during the 6th week of camp, is far from modest. It unfolds in the evening at a local venue and features professional-grade sound and lighting, creating a truly remarkable spectacle.
Low Ropes
Climbing and Ropes Courses are integral components of the Summer Camp experience at Oak Crest in Flemington, NJ. We have established a low ropes course at our location with dual objectives: promoting the development of gross motor skills in our Munchkin campers and equipping them with essential skills necessary for navigating our Climbing Tower. During their time on the Low Ropes Course, our young campers engage in climbing, exploration, and swinging activities, all while being just inches above the ground.
To ensure the highest level of safety, our ropes courses undergo rigorous inspection and certification by the construction company responsible for their setup at the beginning of each season. Additionally, our certified ropes instructors, who guide the groups through all ropes courses, conduct daily checks to maintain a secure environment for our campers.
Learn to Swim
Swimming is not just a life skill but a fundamental proficiency that is best acquired at our newly established 12,000 square foot Aquatic Complex in Flemington, NJ. Our commitment to excellence is reflected in our annual training of instructors, which incorporates American Red Cross guidelines and draws from over 25 years of practical experience in teaching children to swim. We assure you that your child will achieve mastery in swimming at Oak Crest.
For our beginner swimmers, our state-of-the-art Aquatic Facility offers two shallow pools, ensuring that even the youngest campers can comfortably stand. This setup significantly enhances their comfort and initial progress. Each morning, our campers participate in a 40-minute swim lesson led by a certified swim instructor, with assistance from group counselors. In the afternoons, they return to the Aquatic Complex for 40 minutes of free swim, fostering camaraderie with their fellow campers and group counselors.
Social Development
One of the most captivating facets of the camp experience is the nurturing of children’s capacity to navigate group dynamics. This process plays a pivotal role in fostering their confidence and independence. As they transition between different activities, the group actively participates in promoting friendships, collaborative endeavors, sharing, taking turns, and developing respectful interactions with both peers and staff. Our dedicated team empowers Munchkin campers to express themselves verbally and assists them in practicing direct communication. Oak Crest offers a nurturing environment where children acquire the emotional and social skills crucial for success in life.
Munchkin Lunch
To meet the nutritional needs of our preschool campers, Munchkins have a designated dining arrangement separate from the rest of the camp, where they enjoy the first lunch period of the day. The Oak Crest Staff is highly attentive to any dietary requirements your child may have, providing a personalized and accommodating approach to their meals.
