The Munchkin Program focuses on a comprehensive threefold approach, including the enhancement of gross and fine motor skills through engaging athletic and creative activities, the development of swimming skills, and the nurturing of social development.

At Oak Crest’s Franklin Township, NJ location, Climbing and Ropes Courses are integral parts of our summer camp adventure. We have designed a low ropes course with dual objectives: enhancing the development of gross motor skills in our Munchkins and equipping them with the necessary skills for navigating our Climbing Tower. During their time on the Low Ropes Course, our young campers engage in climbing, exploration, and swinging activities, all while being just inches above the ground.
To ensure the utmost safety, our ropes courses undergo thorough inspection and certification by the company responsible for their construction at the beginning of each season. Additionally, our certified ropes instructors, who lead the groups through all ropes courses, conduct daily checks to maintain a secure and safe environment for the campers.
Swimming is more than just a life skill; it’s a vital proficiency that is best acquired at our newly established, cutting-edge 12,000 square foot Aquatic Complex in Franklin Township, NJ. At Oak Crest, we are deeply committed to excellence, evident in our annual training of instructors who follow both American Red Cross guidelines and draw from over 25 years of practical experience in teaching children to swim. We wholeheartedly guarantee that your child will master the art of swimming at Oak Crest.
For our beginner swimmers, our state-of-the-art Aquatic Facility includes two shallow pools, ensuring even the youngest campers can comfortably stand. This significantly enhances their comfort level and initial progress. Each morning, our campers participate in a 40-minute swim lesson led by a certified swim instructor, with the assistance of group counselors. In the afternoons, they return to the Aquatic Complex for 40 minutes of free swim, fostering camaraderie with fellow campers and group counselors alike.
One of the most captivating aspects of the camp experience is the cultivation of children’s aptitude for navigating group dynamics, leading to heightened confidence and independence. As they transition between various activities, our campers actively participate in fostering friendships, collaborative efforts, sharing, taking turns, and learning to interact respectfully with both their peers and our staff. Our dedicated team empowers Munchkin campers to express their thoughts using words and guides them in direct communication. Oak Crest fosters a nurturing environment where children acquire essential emotional and social skills necessary for success in life.
To cater to the nutritional needs of our preschool campers, Munchkins have their own dedicated dining arrangement separate from the rest of the camp, enjoying the first lunch period of the day. Our Oak Crest staff is highly attentive to any specific dietary requirements your child may have, guaranteeing a personalized and accommodating approach to their meals.
