In Hillsborough, New Jersey, Oak Crest offers two programs: a 5 full-day program and a 3 full-day program. In our Munchkin Division, we maintain a highly favorable camper-to-staff ratio, typically ranging from 10 to 12 campers per 3 to 4 staff members. Additionally, each activity is supervised by a dedicated Munchkin Specialist, extensively trained to meet the needs of children aged 3, 4, and 5.
The Munchkin Program focuses on three key areas: enhancing gross and fine motor skills through engaging athletic and creative activities, teaching swimming skills, and promoting social development.
Oak Crest provides modified versions of various sports activities tailored to our young campers. These include mini-soccer, mini-basketball, t-ball, and gymnastics. Our athletic specialists, who specialize in working with 3, 4, and 5-year-old children, guide your child in mastering the fundamental skills of these sports in a manner suitable for their age, making the learning process engaging and enjoyable.

At Oak Crest’s Hillsborough, NJ location, our Summer Camp adventure includes essential components such as Climbing and Ropes Courses. We’ve established a low ropes course with a dual purpose: enhancing gross motor skills development in our Munchkin campers and equipping them with the necessary skills to tackle our Climbing Tower. During the Low Ropes Course activities, our young campers engage in climbing, exploration, and swinging, all within inches of the ground.
Safety is our top priority, and to ensure it, our ropes courses undergo rigorous inspection and certification by the company responsible for their construction at the beginning of each season. Moreover, our certified ropes instructors, who guide the groups through all ropes courses, conduct daily checks to maintain a secure environment for the campers.
Swimming is not just a life skill; it’s a vital proficiency that is best acquired at our newly established, state-of-the-art 12,000 square foot Aquatic Complex in Hillsborough, NJ. Our commitment to excellence is exemplified through our annual instructor training, which combines American Red Cross guidelines with our extensive practical experience spanning over 25 years in teaching children to swim. We confidently assure you that your child will master swimming at Oak Crest.
For our beginners, our Aquatic Facility boasts two shallow pools, ensuring that even the youngest campers can comfortably stand, significantly enhancing their comfort and initial progress. Each morning, our campers participate in a 40-minute swim lesson led by a certified swim instructor, with assistance from group counselors. In the afternoons, they enjoy 40 minutes of free swim at the Aquatic Complex, fostering camaraderie with both fellow campers and group counselors.
One of the most captivating facets of the camp experience revolves around fostering children’s adeptness in navigating group dynamics. This process nurtures their confidence and independence, and as they transition between different activities, they actively participate in building friendships, collaborating, sharing, taking turns, and learning to interact respectfully with both peers and staff members. Our devoted staff empowers Munchkin campers to express themselves using words and facilitates direct communication. Oak Crest offers a nurturing environment where children acquire the emotional and social skills crucial for success in life.
To cater to the nutritional needs of our preschool campers, Munchkins have a dedicated dining arrangement, enjoying the first lunch period of the day separate from the rest of the camp. The Oak Crest Staff is highly attentive to any dietary requirements your child may have, ensuring a personalized and accommodating approach to their meals.
