Located in Manville, NJ, Oak Crest offers both a 5 full-day and a 3 full-day program for young children. In our Munchkin Division, we maintain an exceptional camper-to-staff ratio of 10 to 12 campers accompanied by 3 to 4 staff members. Additionally, every activity is supervised by a dedicated Munchkin Specialist, extensively trained to meet the needs of 3, 4, and 5-year-olds.
The Munchkin Program focuses on three key aspects: the development of gross and fine motor skills through engaging athletic and creative activities, teaching swimming skills, and fostering social development.
At Oak Crest, we provide modified versions of a variety of sports activities to cater to our youngest campers. From mini-soccer and mini-basketball to t-ball and gymnastics, we have customized these traditional sports to ensure that our 3, 4, and 5-year-old campers can experience success. Our athletic specialists, specially trained for this age group, guide your child in learning the fundamental skills of these sports in a manner that is age-appropriate and engaging.
Located in Manville, NJ, Oak Crest’s Creative Arts Center serves as a premier hub for artistic expression. Here, your child can engage in a diverse array of artistic activities within well-appointed, air-conditioned classrooms under the guidance of experienced art instructors. Our campers actively participate in various activities such as Ceramics, Music, Cooking, Drama, Nature exploration, Dance, Digital Photography, Jewelry Making, Computers, and more on a weekly basis.
To enhance the experience, each Munchkin group contributes to the annual Showcrest, a grand Dance and Drama Production held during the 6th week of camp. This spectacular event takes place in the evening at a local venue, complete with professional-grade sound and lighting, offering a truly remarkable and unforgettable experience.
At Oak Crest’s Manville, NJ location, Climbing and Ropes Courses are fundamental components of our Summer Camp adventure. Our low ropes course serves a dual purpose: enhancing the gross motor skills of our Munchkin campers and equipping them with the necessary skills for our Climbing Tower. During their participation in the Low Ropes Course, our young campers engage in climbing, exploring, and swinging activities, all while being just inches above the ground.
Safety is our utmost priority, with our ropes courses undergoing comprehensive inspection and certification by the construction company at the start of each season. Moreover, our certified ropes instructors, responsible for guiding the groups through all ropes courses, conduct daily checks to maintain a secure and safe environment for our campers.
At Oak Crest’s Manville, NJ location, we view swimming as not only a life skill but also an essential proficiency, best acquired in our newly established, cutting-edge 12,000 square foot Aquatic Complex. Our unwavering commitment to excellence is evident through our annual instructor training program, which adheres to American Red Cross guidelines and draws from over 25 years of practical experience in teaching children to swim. We proudly guarantee that your child will master the art of swimming at Oak Crest.
To ensure a comfortable and progressive experience for beginners, our state-of-the-art Aquatic Facility boasts two shallow pools, allowing even the youngest campers to stand confidently. Each morning, our campers participate in a 40-minute swim lesson led by a certified swim instructor, with the support of group counselors. In the afternoons, they return to the Aquatic Complex for 40 minutes of free swim, fostering camaraderie with both fellow campers and group counselors.
An integral and enchanting dimension of the camp experience at Oak Crest centers around nurturing children’s proficiency in navigating group dynamics. This process fosters the development of heightened confidence and independence as campers transition between diverse activities. Within their groups, children actively engage in the cultivation of friendships, collaborative efforts, sharing, taking turns, and learning to interact respectfully with both peers and staff.
Our dedicated staff is committed to empowering Munchkin campers to express themselves using words and guiding them towards effective communication. Oak Crest provides a nurturing environment where children acquire the emotional and social skills that are essential for achieving success in life.
To cater to the nutritional needs of our preschool campers, the Munchkins have a dedicated dining arrangement separate from the rest of the camp. They enjoy the first lunch period of the day, allowing us to focus on their specific dietary requirements. The Oak Crest Staff is highly attentive to any dietary needs your child may have, ensuring a personalized and accommodating approach to their meals.
