3-5 Year Olds (Munchkins) Summer Camp near Milltown
In Milltown, NJ, Oak Crest offers both a 5 full-day program and a 3 full-day program. In our Munchkin Division, we maintain an exceptional camper-to-staff ratio, typically ranging from 10 to 12 campers per 3 to 4 staff members. Additionally, each activity is supervised by a dedicated Munchkin Specialist, carefully selected and trained to meet the specific needs of 3, 4, and 5-year-olds.
The Munchkin Program follows a comprehensive approach that focuses on three key aspects: the development of gross and fine motor skills through engaging athletic and creative activities, the acquisition of swimming proficiency, and the nurturing of social skills and interactions.
Munchkin Athletics
Oak Crest provides modified versions of a variety of sports activities tailored to the needs of our youngest campers. From mini-soccer and mini-basketball to t-ball and gymnastics, we have restructured traditional sports to ensure that even our 3, 4, and 5-year-old campers can experience success. Our athletic specialists, who possess specialized training for working with children in this age group, guide your child through the fundamental skills of these sports in an age-appropriate and engaging manner, fostering their enjoyment and skill development.
Creative Arts
Nestled in Milltown, NJ, Oak Crest’s Creative Arts Center serves as an exceptional hub for fostering artistic expression. Here, your child will have the opportunity to engage in a wide array of artistic activities conducted in well-appointed, air-conditioned classrooms under the guidance of experienced art instructors.
On a weekly basis, our campers actively participate in a diverse range of creative endeavors, including ceramics, music, cooking, drama, nature exploration, dance, digital photography, jewelry making, computer-based arts, and more. Adding to the depth of this creative experience, each Munchkin group contributes to the annual Showcrest, a grand production encompassing dance and drama. Far from a modest undertaking, Showcrest, which takes place during the 6th week of camp, unfolds in the evening at a local venue, complete with professional-grade sound and lighting, resulting in a truly remarkable spectacle.
Low Ropes
Climbing and Ropes Courses are integral elements of the Summer Camp experience at Oak Crest in Milltown, NJ. We’ve established a low ropes course at our location with dual objectives: facilitating the development of gross motor skills in our Munchkin campers and equipping them with the essential skills needed to navigate our Climbing Tower. During their time on the Low Ropes Course, our young campers engage in climbing, exploration, and swinging activities, all while being just inches above the ground.
To ensure the utmost safety of our campers, our ropes courses undergo rigorous inspection and certification by the company responsible for their construction at the beginning of each season. Furthermore, our certified ropes instructors, who guide the groups through all ropes courses, conduct daily checks to maintain a secure and safe environment for our campers.
Learn to Swim
Swimming transcends being a mere life skill; it is a crucial proficiency that is best acquired at our state-of-the-art 12,000 square foot Aquatic Complex in Milltown, NJ. Our unwavering commitment to excellence is exemplified through our annual instructor training, which draws from both American Red Cross guidelines and our extensive practical experience spanning over 25 years in teaching children to swim. We confidently assure you that your child will master the art of swimming at Oak Crest.
For our beginners, our cutting-edge Aquatic Facility boasts two shallow pools, ensuring that even the youngest campers can comfortably stand. This significantly enhances their comfort level and initial progress. Each morning, our campers participate in a 40-minute swim lesson led by a certified swim instructor, with assistance from group counselors. In the afternoons, they return to the Aquatic Complex for 40 minutes of free swim, fostering camaraderie with fellow campers and group counselors alike.
Social Development
A significant and captivating facet of the camp experience centers on fostering children’s proficiency in navigating group dynamics. This process contributes to the development of heightened confidence and independence in campers. As they transition between diverse activities, the campers actively participate in cultivating friendships, collaborative efforts, sharing, taking turns, and learning to engage respectfully with both their peers and the camp staff.

Munchkin Lunch
In catering to the nutritional needs of our preschool campers, the Munchkins have a distinct dining arrangement that grants them the privilege of enjoying the first lunch period of the day, separate from the rest of the camp. Our Oak Crest Staff pays close attention to any dietary requirements your child may have, guaranteeing a personalized and accommodating approach to their dietary preferences and needs.
