3-5 Year Olds (Munchkins) Summer Camp near Neshanic Station
In Neshanic Station, New Jersey, Oak Crest offers two distinct programs: a 5 full-day program and a 3 full-day program within our Munchkin Division. Our Munchkin Division is distinguished by maintaining an exceptional camper-to-staff ratio, typically ranging from 10 to 12 campers accompanied by 3 to 4 highly trained staff members. Additionally, each activity is closely supervised by a specialized Munchkin Specialist, specifically selected and trained to address the unique needs of 3, 4, and 5-year-olds.
The Munchkin Program adopts a comprehensive approach, focusing on three key elements: the development of gross and fine motor skills through engaging athletic and creative activities, the acquisition of essential swimming skills, and the nurturing of social development in our young campers.
Munchkin Athletics
Oak Crest provides modified versions of various sports activities tailored to our youngest campers. Our offerings include mini-soccer, mini-basketball, t-ball, and gymnastics, all thoughtfully adapted to ensure that even our 3, 4, and 5-year-old campers can experience success. Our team of athletic specialists is dedicated to working with this age group and is well-equipped to guide your child in acquiring the fundamental skills of these sports in an age-appropriate and engaging manner.
Creative Arts
Located in Neshanic Station, New Jersey, Oak Crest’s Creative Arts Center serves as an exceptional hub for nurturing artistic expression. Here, your child will have the opportunity to engage in a wide array of artistic activities within well-appointed, air-conditioned classrooms under the guidance of experienced art instructors.
Our campers actively participate in a diverse range of creative pursuits on a weekly basis. These activities include Ceramics, Music, Cooking, Drama, Nature exploration, Dance, Digital Photography, Jewelry Making, Computers, and more.
In addition to these enriching activities, each Munchkin group contributes to our annual Showcrest event, a grand Dance and Drama Production that is anything but modest. Showcrest, held during the 6th week of camp, takes place in the evening at a local venue and features professional-grade sound and lighting, resulting in a truly remarkable and spectacular showcase of our campers’ talents.
Low Ropes
Climbing and Ropes Courses are integral components of the Summer Camp experience at Oak Crest in Neshanic Station, New Jersey. At our location, we have established a low ropes course with a dual focus: it fosters the development of gross motor skills in our Munchkin campers and equips them with the essential skills necessary to navigate our Climbing Tower.
During their time on the Low Ropes Course, our young campers engage in activities such as climbing, exploring, and swinging, all while being just inches above the ground. Safety is paramount in these activities. At the beginning of each season, our ropes courses undergo thorough inspection and certification by the company responsible for their construction. Additionally, our certified ropes instructors, who guide the groups through all ropes courses, conduct daily checks to ensure a secure and safe environment for the campers.
Learn to Swim
Swimming, beyond being a vital life skill, is a fundamental proficiency that finds its optimal acquisition at our recently established, state-of-the-art 12,000 square foot Aquatic Complex in Neshanic Station, New Jersey. Our dedication to excellence is manifest in our annual instructor training program, which draws from both American Red Cross guidelines and our extensive practical experience spanning over 25 years of teaching children to swim. We offer an unequivocal guarantee that your child will attain mastery in swimming at Oak Crest.
For beginners, our cutting-edge Aquatic Facility is equipped with two shallow pools, ensuring even the youngest campers can confidently stand in the water. This feature significantly enhances their comfort level and initial progress. Each morning, our campers partake in a 40-minute swim lesson led by a certified swim instructor, with assistance from group counselors. In the afternoons, they return to the Aquatic Complex for 40 minutes of free swim, fostering camaraderie with fellow campers and group counselors alike.
Social Development
A significant and captivating aspect of the camp experience revolves around the development of children’s skills in navigating group dynamics. This process leads to the cultivation of increased confidence and independence. As campers transition between various activities, the group actively participates in the development of friendships, collaborative efforts, sharing, taking turns, and acquiring the ability to interact respectfully with both peers and staff members. Our dedicated staff plays a pivotal role in empowering Munchkin campers to express themselves verbally and guides them in practicing direct communication. Oak Crest fosters a nurturing environment where children acquire the emotional and social skills that are crucial for success in life.
Munchkin Lunch
To cater to the specific nutritional needs of our preschool campers, the Munchkins have a dedicated dining arrangement separate from the rest of the camp, and they enjoy the first lunch period of the day. Our Oak Crest staff is highly attentive to any dietary requirements your child may have, ensuring a personalized and accommodating approach to their meals.
