3-5 Year Olds (Munchkins) Summer Camp near North Brunswick
In North Brunswick, New Jersey, Oak Crest offers both a 5 full-day program and a 3 full-day program within our Munchkin Division. This division maintains an exceptional camper-to-staff ratio, typically ranging from 10 to 12 campers accompanied by 3 to 4 staff members. Additionally, each activity is supervised by a specially recruited and trained Munchkin Specialist, dedicated to meeting the needs of 3, 4, and 5-year-olds.
The Munchkin Program focuses on a three-pronged approach, which includes enhancing gross and fine motor skills through engaging athletic and creative activities, imparting swimming skills, and fostering social development.
Munchkin Athletics
At Oak Crest, we provide modified versions of a variety of sports activities tailored to our youngest campers. These activities encompass mini-soccer, mini-basketball, t-ball, and gymnastics. We have customized these traditional sports to ensure that our 3, 4, and 5-year-old campers can experience success. Our athletic specialists, who are specifically trained to work with children in this age group, guide your child in learning the fundamental skills of these sports in an age-appropriate and engaging manner.
Creative Arts
Nestled in North Brunswick, New Jersey, the Creative Arts Center at Oak Crest stands as a distinguished hub for fostering artistic expression. Here, your child can engage in a wide spectrum of artistic activities in well-equipped, air-conditioned classrooms under the guidance of experienced art instructors.
Every week, our campers actively participate in an array of activities, including Ceramics, Music, Cooking, Drama, Nature exploration, Dance, Digital Photography, Jewelry Making, Computers, and more. Adding to the richness of this experience, each Munchkin group contributes to the annual Showcrest, a grand Dance and Drama Production. Far from a modest undertaking, Showcrest, a cherished tradition during the 6th week of camp, unfolds in the evening at a local venue, complete with professional-grade sound and lighting, crafting a truly remarkable spectacle.
Low Ropes
Climbing and ropes courses are essential components of the Summer Camp experience at Oak Crest in North Brunswick, New Jersey. We have established a low ropes course with a dual purpose: to promote the development of gross motor skills in our young campers and to equip them with the necessary skills for our Climbing Tower.
During their time on the Low Ropes Course, our young campers engage in activities that involve climbing, exploring, and swinging, all while being just inches above the ground.
Safety is our utmost priority. Our ropes courses undergo a thorough inspection and certification by the company responsible for their construction at the beginning of each season. In addition, our certified ropes instructors, who guide the groups through all ropes courses, conduct daily checks to maintain a secure environment for the campers.
Learn to Swim
Swimming is not just a basic life skill; it’s a crucial proficiency that is best acquired at our newly established, state-of-the-art 12,000 square foot Aquatic Complex in North Brunswick, New Jersey. Our commitment to excellence is evident through our annual training of instructors, adhering to American Red Cross guidelines, and drawing upon our extensive 25-year experience in teaching children to swim. We confidently assure you that your child will become a proficient swimmer at Oak Crest.
For our beginners, our Aquatic Facility offers two shallow pools, ensuring that even the youngest campers can comfortably stand. This significantly enhances their comfort level and initial progress. Each morning, campers partake in a 40-minute swim lesson led by a certified swim instructor, with the assistance of group counselors. In the afternoons, they return to the Aquatic Complex for 40 minutes of free swim, fostering camaraderie with fellow campers and group counselors.
Social Development
One of the most captivating facets of the camp experience centers on nurturing children’s proficiency in managing group dynamics. This transformative process fosters increased confidence and independence in them. As they transition between different activities, the group actively participates in cultivating friendships, collaborating, sharing, taking turns, and developing respectful interactions with both peers and staff.
Our dedicated staff plays a pivotal role in empowering Munchkin campers to express their thoughts using verbal communication and guiding them in direct interactions. Oak Crest creates a supportive environment where children acquire crucial emotional and social skills necessary for success in life.
Munchkin Lunch
In catering to the nutritional needs of our preschool campers, Munchkins have a distinct dining arrangement that grants them the first lunch period of the day, separate from the rest of the camp. Our Oak Crest Staff is highly attentive to any specific dietary requirements your child may have, offering a personalized and accommodating approach to their meals.
