Munchkin Athletics
At Oak Crest, we provide modified versions of a variety of sports activities tailored for our youngest campers. Our offerings include mini-soccer, mini-basketball, t-ball, and gymnastics, all designed to enable success for children in the 3, 4, and 5-year-old age group. Our dedicated athletic specialists are specifically trained to work with these age groups, ensuring that your child learns the fundamental skills of these sports in a developmentally appropriate and engaging manner.
Creative Arts
Nestled in North Plainfield, NJ, Oak Crest’s Creative Arts Center stands as a premier hub for artistic expression. Here, your child can engage in a diverse array of artistic activities, all hosted within well-appointed, air-conditioned classrooms and guided by experienced art instructors.
On a weekly basis, our campers actively participate in a wide spectrum of activities, including Ceramics, Music, Cooking, Drama, Nature exploration, Dance, Digital Photography, Jewelry Making, Computers, and more.
In a unique and enriching twist, each Munchkin group contributes to the annual Showcrest, a grand Dance and Drama Production that goes far beyond the ordinary. Showcrest, a cherished tradition held during the 6th week of camp, unfolds in the evening at a local venue, complete with professional-grade sound and lighting, resulting in a truly remarkable spectacle.

Learn to Swim
Swimming transcends being a mere life skill; it’s a crucial proficiency that finds its ideal learning environment in our newly established, cutting-edge 12,000 square foot Aquatic Complex at Oak Crest’s North Plainfield, NJ location. Our unwavering commitment to excellence is demonstrated through our annual instructor training, which draws from both American Red Cross guidelines and a wealth of practical experience amassed over 25 years of teaching children to swim. We firmly guarantee that your child will become a proficient swimmer at Oak Crest.
For our novice swimmers, our state-of-the-art Aquatic Facility boasts two shallow pools, ensuring even the youngest campers can comfortably stand, thereby enhancing their comfort and initial progress. Each morning, our campers partake in a 40-minute swim lesson led by a certified swim instructor, with the support of group counselors. In the afternoons, they return to the Aquatic Complex for 40 minutes of free swim, fostering camaraderie among peers and group counselors alike.
Social Development
One of the most captivating facets of the camp experience is the deliberate cultivation of children’s proficiency in navigating group dynamics. This process fosters the development of heightened confidence and independence. As campers transition between diverse activities, they actively participate in building friendships, collaborative efforts, sharing, taking turns, and mastering respectful interaction with both their peers and staff members.
Our dedicated staff plays a pivotal role in empowering Munchkin campers to express themselves through verbal communication and provides guidance in effective interpersonal interaction. Munchkin Lunch
In catering to the nutritional needs of our preschool campers, the Munchkins benefit from a dedicated dining arrangement separate from the rest of the camp, where they enjoy the first lunch period of the day. The Oak Crest Staff is highly attentive to any specific dietary requirements your child may have, ensuring a personalized and accommodating approach to their meals.
