3-5 Year Olds (Munchkins) Summer Camp near Plainfield
Located in Plainfield, NJ, Oak Crest offers both a 5 full-day program and a 3 full-day program for young campers. Our Munchkin Division boasts an impressive camper-to-staff ratio, typically ranging from 10 to 12 campers with 3 to 4 staff members. Additionally, each activity is closely supervised by a dedicated Munchkin Specialist, specifically trained to cater to the unique needs of 3, 4, and 5-year-olds.

Munchkin Athletics
At Oak Crest, we provide tailored versions of various sports activities, offering scaled-down adaptations of traditional sports to ensure our youngest campers can thrive. From mini-soccer and mini-basketball to t-ball and gymnastics, our programs are thoughtfully designed to enable success for children in the 3 to 5-year-old age group.
Our athletic specialists are specifically trained to work with these young campers, guiding them in an age-appropriate and engaging manner to develop fundamental skills in these sports. Your child will delight in the learning experience while building a strong foundation in sports.
Creative Arts
Located in Plainfield, NJ, Oak Crest’s Creative Arts Center is an exceptional hub for fostering artistic expression. Our camp offers your child the opportunity to engage in a wide array of artistic activities within well-appointed, air-conditioned classrooms, led by experienced art instructors. Each week, our campers actively participate in activities that encompass Ceramics, Music, Cooking, Drama, Nature exploration, Dance, Digital Photography, Jewelry Making, Computers, and more.
Adding depth to this artistic experience, each Munchkin group contributes to our annual Showcrest, a grand Dance and Drama Production. This is no small-scale event; Showcrest, held during the 6th week of camp, unfolds in the evening at a local venue, complete with professional-grade sound and lighting to create a truly remarkable spectacle.
Low Ropes
At Oak Crest’s Plainfield, NJ location, our Summer Camp adventure includes an exciting feature – Climbing and Ropes Courses, which play a pivotal role in the overall experience. We have established a low ropes course with dual objectives: firstly, to enhance the development of gross motor skills in our Munchkins, and secondly, to equip them with the essential skills required for navigating our Climbing Tower.
During the Low Ropes Course, our young campers engage in climbing, exploration, and swinging activities, all conducted just inches above the ground. Safety is of paramount importance, as our ropes courses undergo thorough inspection and certification by the construction company at the beginning of each season. Moreover, our certified ropes instructors, responsible for guiding the groups through these courses, perform daily checks to ensure a secure environment for all campers.
Learn to Swim
At our Plainfield, NJ location, we consider swimming to be not just a life skill but an essential proficiency. Our commitment to excellence is exemplified by our newly established 12,000 square foot Aquatic Complex, where your child can best acquire this crucial skill. Our instructors undergo annual training, following American Red Cross guidelines and drawing from over 25 years of practical experience in teaching children to swim. We wholeheartedly guarantee that your child will become a proficient swimmer at Oak Crest.
For our beginners, our state-of-the-art Aquatic Facility boasts two shallow pools, designed to ensure even the youngest campers can comfortably stand, enhancing their comfort and initial progress. Each morning, our campers enjoy a 40-minute swim lesson led by a certified swim instructor, with assistance from group counselors. In the afternoons, they return to the Aquatic Complex for 40 minutes of free swim, fostering camaraderie with fellow campers and group counselors.
Social Development
An enchanting aspect of the camp experience at Oak Crest revolves around nurturing children’s abilities to navigate group dynamics. This process fosters heightened confidence and independence in the campers. While transitioning between various activities, our campers actively engage in fostering friendships, collaborative efforts, sharing, taking turns, and learning to interact respectfully with both peers and staff.
Our dedicated staff plays a crucial role in empowering Munchkin campers to articulate their thoughts using words and guides them in direct communication. Oak Crest provides a nurturing environment where children acquire essential emotional and social skills that are integral for success in life.
Munchkin Lunch
At Oak Crest, we prioritize the nutritional needs of our preschool campers. Munchkins have a separate dining arrangement from the rest of the camp, enjoying the first lunch period of the day. Our attentive Oak Crest Staff is keen on addressing any dietary needs your child may have, offering a personalized and accommodating approach to ensure their well-being.
