3-5 Year Olds (Munchkins) Summer Camp near Princeton Junction
In Princeton Junction, NJ, Oak Crest offers both a 5 full-day program and a 3 full-day program in our Munchkin Division. We maintain a highly favorable camper-to-staff ratio, typically with 10 to 12 campers accompanied by 3 to 4 staff members. Additionally, every activity is supervised by a Munchkin Specialist, extensively trained to cater to the specific needs of 3, 4, and 5-year-olds.
The Munchkin Program focuses on a three-pronged approach:
1. Enhancing gross and fine motor skills through engaging athletic and creative activities.
2. Developing swimming skills.
3. Nurturing social development.
Munchkin Athletics
At Oak Crest, we provide modified versions of various sports activities tailored for our youngest campers. These adaptations include mini-soccer, mini-basketball, t-ball, and gymnastics, ensuring that our youngest participants can experience success in these activities. Our athletic specialists are specially trained to work with 3, 4, and 5-year-old campers, guiding them in learning the fundamental skills of these sports in a manner that is both age-appropriate and engaging.
Creative Arts
Located in Princeton Junction, NJ, Oak Crest’s Creative Arts Center is a distinguished hub for fostering artistic expression. Our program offers your child the opportunity to engage in a diverse array of artistic activities held in well-appointed, air-conditioned classrooms under the guidance of experienced art instructors. On a weekly basis, our campers actively participate in a wide range of activities, including Ceramics, Music, Cooking, Drama, Nature exploration, Dance, Digital Photography, Jewelry Making, Computers, and more.
What adds to the richness of this experience is that each Munchkin group contributes to the annual Showcrest, a grand Dance and Drama Production. This is far from a modest affair; Showcrest, a cherished tradition held during the 6th week of camp, unfolds in the evening at a local venue, complete with professional-grade sound and lighting to create a truly remarkable spectacle.
Low Ropes
Climbing and Ropes Courses are integral components of the Summer Camp experience at Oak Crest in Princeton Junction, NJ. We have established a low ropes course with dual objectives: promoting the development of gross motor skills in our Munchkin campers and equipping them with the essential skills necessary for navigating our Climbing Tower. During their engagement with the Low Ropes Course, our young campers participate in climbing, exploration, and swinging activities, all conducted just inches above the ground.
To ensure the utmost safety of our campers, our ropes courses undergo thorough inspection and certification by the company responsible for their construction at the beginning of each season. Furthermore, our certified ropes instructors, who lead the groups through all ropes courses, conduct daily checks to maintain a secure environment for the campers.
Learn to Swim
Swimming is more than just a life skill; it’s a crucial proficiency that we prioritize in our newly established, state-of-the-art 12,000 square foot Aquatic Complex at our Princeton Junction, NJ location. Our commitment to excellence is evident through our annual instructor training program, which draws on American Red Cross guidelines and leverages over 25 years of practical experience in teaching children to swim. We confidently assure you that your child will master the art of swimming at Oak Crest.
For our beginner swimmers, our Aquatic Facility boasts two shallow pools, ensuring even the youngest campers can comfortably stand. This design significantly enhances their comfort and initial progress. Every morning, our campers participate in a 40-minute swim lesson led by a certified swim instructor, with assistance from group counselors. In the afternoons, they return to the Aquatic Complex for 40 minutes of free swim, fostering camaraderie with fellow campers and group counselors alike.
Social Development
A significant and captivating facet of the camp experience is the nurturing of children’s aptitude for navigating group dynamics. In this process, they cultivate increased confidence and independence. As they transition between diverse activities, the group actively participates in fostering friendships, collaborative endeavors, sharing, taking turns, and acquiring the ability to interact respectfully with both peers and staff. Our devoted staff plays a pivotal role in empowering Munchkin campers to express themselves verbally and guides them in direct communication. Oak Crest creates a nurturing environment where children acquire the emotional and social skills crucial for success in life.
Munchkin Lunch
In order to cater to the specific nutritional needs of our preschool campers, the Munchkins have a distinct dining arrangement, partaking in the first lunch period of the day separate from the rest of the camp. Our Oak Crest Staff is diligent in addressing any dietary requirements your child may have, guaranteeing a personalized and accommodating approach to their meals.
